Ugly Adverts In The First Posts.

Yes you want to make money and there is already more advertising then you can poke a stick at on TV, are the ugly square adverts in the first posts really necessary? They are very distracting and make posts hard to read.

theres a tiny box provided for posting posts.....do you think we can leave it that way.

soon we will have adverts between parragraphs or perhaps sentences :o

Agreed. Generating cash is one thing, but c'mon leave the posting section as it is... there is no place for ads in the middle of people's posts.

Thanks George ^^^.

The new positioning of a banner between posts #1 and #2 is somewhat better and less distracting, if it doesn't get any bigger.

I must say however, that some of the forums come up looking like one of the porn sites with loads of flashing banners and whizzy things all over the place and very little actual content. At least TV has the content :o

EDIT Not that I frequent any of these sites, other than purely for research purposes :D

We are doing some A/B testing over the next 48 hours. We will test different placements.

Your input is appreciated!

Now lets lookat this logically:

1. The "Sponsors" adverts at the top of the pages are PAID FOR before being inserting into the page. So TV already has that income.

2. "Google Ads" are "PAY FOR CLICKS" adverts. No revenue is raised UNLESS the viewer clicks on that link. Unless viewers click these adverts, their placement is just a waste of space.

3. Placing a "hope you click here, so we can generate money" advert in the post, many members and guests will be alienated.

4. The content of some Google Ads breaks the Forum rules over topics discussed. This has already been mentioned in a post above.

Example 1: In an article about the kings Birthday in the Pattaya Mail, the Google Ads showed links to "Bangkok Bar Girls". Not a suitable advert to be in that article, I suspect.

Example 2: Pattaya's PCNFM added so many adverts, I retuned my car radio to another station and have not gone back. Same music and same news, just less advert forced down my throat.

i think TV should be careful they dont have everyone here rushing to download adblockers

Now THAT is a great idea. I currently have to PAGE DOWN at least a full screen before I can read a post (My screen resolution 600x800). And the delay downloading those adverts is sometimes so long in busy times I cancel the page and go look at another site.
