Is It Time For Mods To Have Double Accounts?

We are walking on eggs here. Better not discuss too much in details

My question was : what happened if two moderators disagree ? One close a thread, and another one wanted to keep it running ?

Is there a hierarchy ?

Agreed.

I noticed that there is 2 names. "moderator" and "super-moderator". Is this the hierarchy or does it only means how many forums you are allowed to moderate?

Also, how do you become a mod? Ive seen some mods only have less than 100 posts and are new to the forum. In some forums you need to be very experienced to get it (it also pays then offcourse) but here it seems to be something you just apply for?

(No, im not interessted of becoming one, just curios!) :o

It is pretty obvious that the mods dont always agree with eachother. This is nothing strange, it happens in all big teams that there is different takes on the rules. But if a few mods accept whats going on (like in this case) and anther dont, i think they should have a discussion in between them before closure. Then again for all i know, they ight have that already. Still very strange behavior sometimes though......

There is a moderators forum in which we do discuss these types of things things and consensus is usally reached.

The differnece bewteen a modertor and a super moderator is that a super moderator is allowed to moderate all forums, moderator only in the forums assigned to him/her and they are still in training/probation.

When you don't agree with a moderator you can always contact support and then the administrators will make a decision.

I'm sorry but I'm going to have you to stop there in accordance with the forum rule:

5) Discussion of moderation issues, actions or moderation policies concerning individual cases are not allowed in the forums. Such comments should be directed to a moderator or administrator, and not discussed on the forum.

Thank you for your co-operation :o

On this busy forum, do any of the mods recieve compensation?

Can not see what this has to do with the topic of this thread...

And even if they receive compensation, I can not see anything wrong with that.....

then why the need to act the apologist. some transparency in moderation would be beneficial to this entire forum.

Thanks Jai Dee, Mario 2008, and SBK for your answers . I understand a bit better.

If a thread has been closed , let's say to quickly or wrongly, can it be re-opened by another moderator ?

The best thing to do in that case, is email support. Moderators do discuss things among each other, but admin acts as the arbiter.

On subject, I don't think it is a good idea for moderators to walk among the common folk disguised as mild mannered posters.

It would be far to easy to berate, stir up or set up members for whom they have a personal dislike, and then revert to their super powers to take punitive action.

Not that any current god would do that of course. :o
