Documents needed for renewal of Thai driving license:

  • Passport (and 1 signed copy of photo page)
  • Visa page and non immigrant visa page (and 1 signed copy of each)
  • Two 1 inch photos (available from vendors outside the parking area around the main building)
  • Your old Thai driving license.

Some places accept, some not.

Also you need:

Medical certificate.

Letter from immigration station your address or copies of your WP or Yellow Tabien Bahn.

Photos are not needed anymore, they take photos there and put the in a plastic driving license.

And you connot renew before your current driving license has expired.

If you go same day driving license expire they'll tell you to come tomorrow. :o

Believe you need a letter confirming residence or a Work permit

Photos not needed as they take a digital photo these days...this info you have given appears out of date

Is the OP talking about the first one year licence or the 5 year one ? Question from myself, on renewing the 5 year one, is it a case of just renewing or resitting the test ?

Renewing.

Yes the 5 year license. When I got the one year license last year I needed Health cert. and recidense cert.

I got the information from Thaivisa FAQ and can see its old from 2006.

Is there any gov. site that describe the need.

I dont like to que for hours and than find I not have proper docs.

As far as i know they require Non-Immigrant visa so you must have a reason to convert your tourist visa to a Non-Immigrant but I am sure there are other members that could give you a more good advise how to renew.

In my case they require for Car and Motorcycle

1. Old Thai drivinglicences that must have expire

2. Passport whit a Work permit or Non-Immigrant visa "copies"

3. 2 documents signed of any doctor at any hospital or clinic that you are healthy enough

4. Residence certificate that you can get at an immigration office and there you need proof of your residence..rental contract or and a electrical bill or similar that proof your address . and "Copies"

But no need to bring photos now because they have a machine that take the pic of you when they print your new driving licence.

I hope other member can give their experiences how to do when its time to renew your driving licences....whish you good luck.

Regards!
