Is This Dating Site A Scam?

Have recently decided to try on-line dating. There is a site called youngsiam.com and I've got some strange feeling that most of the women on the site, if not all that I have looked at, are not real. Has anyone else tried the site? Basically it is a totally free site and the quality of it is not very good. But it makes a change from the usual credit card nonsense.

I'm not new to this sort of thing, but this being the land of smiles, I regard it with some suspicion. I feel I shoudn't use the site. But it has got me interested in exactly what is going on with the site.

a) Most of the women are "on-line", according to the status, virtually 24 hours. If I check at 2:00am and there's a girl on-line and then I check again at 8:00am, she is on-line again. And these are Thais after all - they sleep for a living for goodness sake! If there's a woman I like the look of, she will have her on-line status lit up virtually all the time. Then when she replies to my message I get an apology that she hasn't been on the site for a long time!

B) I almost always get a message back asking for my e-mail address or phone number, without any further exchange of dialogue.

This is the most striking thing...

c) Many of the girls' details have been on the site for a very long time, but the girl is still active on it (nearly 24 hours a day!). Surely they must have found a boyfriend by now??

I've just got some nagging doubt that these aren't real women on the site, but perhaps just photos of pretty girls and a team of ghastly creepy Thai men at computer screens 24-hours a day. That prospect gives me the creeps, to think that if I make an arrangement to meet a girl, there's going to be some Thai weirdo man knowing who I am.

Anyway else tried this site? Am I being naive and are they just the usual Thai hookers? Please help!

apply a couple of quality filters of your own...

a good one is to chat in thai script....this will weed out the non -thais, the illiterate thais and the thais who like to avoid "foreigners who know too much" (because then their hidden agenda can not be tried on :D )

i'm sure you can come up with some other quality filters as well to further refine your online experience :o

Why anyone would try on-line dating is beyond my understanding.

Was withouth computer for a few days and went to internet shop Nong Han amphur, a place in the Isaan bush most won't ever have heard about.

Next to me sat 4 girls in school uniform, I had a look at their screen. They were on-line dating with webcam, hahahahaha

The lady owner came to disturb me and said: "you want Thai wife?, have 4 sitting here next to you :D

On-line dating is the way to go, yeah! :o

:D I would take it with a very large dose of salt.

If it looks like a Duck, it waddles like a Duck, and squaks like a Duck....it's probably a Duck.

Use the head you have between your ears, not the one down lower as you guide.

Sure. When I use internet shops in villages/small towns in the Isaan, the dating site Thailovelinks.com always pops up in the memory of the browser.

Ha, very good Kiakaha. This presupposes a knowledge of Thai script of course.

of course, but even if you cant read thai , you could just copy/paste a few basic, elementary phrases like hello, how old are you etc....stuff even a 4 year old thai could read.

Last May 2008 my wife’s brother got married to what I believed was a very respectable girl.

She has an MBA and is a manager of a large insurance company in Chiang Mai.

4 months later I discovered her on social networking sites & dating sites, quoting herself as single and offering certain services (X rated) to anyone who invests in her insurance company. My wife’s brother is also involved, so it’s a scam.

If you are really interested in finding someone on these free dating sites or social networking, here are the best methods to use.

1. Open a Yahoo email account only for use with dating sites. Yahoo is best because their accounts can be instantly deleted, unlike Hotmail and some others.

2. If you create a profile on these dating websites, only give a first name or user name, basic details about yourself and never phone numbers or personal email addresses.

3. Usually when a reply asks you to phone them or gives their email addresses out on first contact, this means that they will probably try and progress you on further to a porn site, web cam or some other pay service.

Use the dating web site’s message service first for a while until you get to know more details about the person, before progressing on to phone numbers and email addresses.

Try not to publish any more photos of yourself, other than the one you may use on your profile.

NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER SEND MONEY.
