Maid trying to be helpfull..... :o

Main page survived but my O multi looks a bit washed out as do the rest of the pages.

Who do I visit first, my Embassy or Thai Immigration?

Anyone else had the same problem?

What happened?

I had just been to Poipet, on my first 90 day run on this new visa. :D

It will depend on how dameged the passport is. A dameged passport is invalid, so you risk that an immigration officer will consider it invalid, eevrytime you visit immigration or cross a border.

So if it is very damaged or the stamps not good visable anymore I would recommend you visit your embassy first to get a new passport, and then to immigration has to transfer stamps to the new passport. You might need a new multiple non-O as well, as immigratiio doesn't give a new visa. They will only transfer your permission to stay.

When getting a new passport i have heard some immigration offices want a letter as to why it was replaced from the embassy. anyone else had this?

Having a letter from the embassy saying they issued you a new passport is a normal requirement at immigration when moving stamps over.

Don't worry, most of the time this can be sorted easily, but may take a few weeks. I did the same thing a year ago, put my UK passport in the washing machine that had my B Visa inside. The visa was a little washed out, and the back page with my photo was all bent.

What I did was:

1. Went to the UK Embassy. They took my passport and after some discussion (away from me) they agreed the passport was now void.

2. I had to pay for a new passport, filling out a special form for a replacement. Also had to provide photos etc.

3. The provided me with a letter stating my passport was being renewed due to damage (in case the police ask you to produce it)

4. I return 2 weeks later, collected both my new and old passport, and a letter by the UK embassy stating they what had happened, and to transfer my VISA.

5. I went to immigration, filled out a transfer of visa form, handed over both passports and a photocopy of my VISA (i was lucky to have that).

6. They inspected my VISA, and and added a transfer stamp into my new passport.

Now, here is the messy bit, you still have to carry both passports. Until I got my work permit, I still had to do 90 border runs. The first border run you do is the most important, as just because you transfered your visa doesn't mean immigration on the border will accept it. I was lucky, had a nice immigration guy on the border, produced both passports and a photocopy of my original VISA. They laughed at me and stamped me another 90 days.

I advise you find a photocopy of your VISA, I now keep a few copies of every official document from Thailand just in case! Them off to the embassy...

Hope this helps.
