Hi All,

My friend's wife is about two weeks away from the due date of her first baby. We've been able to find a lot of translated information on post natal care, but nothing on what she can expect during the labour. Most importantly we are trying to figure out how to explain what an epidural is, and determine whether she would like to have one, along with things like a c section (just in case) etc

Unfortunately she is still learning english, and we are still learning thai. Does anyone know where we could find information in both thai and english so we can explain what to expect giving birth in a western country (we're in sydney, australia) or alternatively able to tell us what words to use to describe what an epidural is?

Thanks,

Erin

Caesarean section in Thai is การผ่าตัดคลอดลูก or ผ่าตัดคลอดลูก and an epidural is การบล็อคหลัง so as a start, searching these on Google should give some hits

eg

http://www.snr.ac.th/m5html/surasa/work/section3.htm

http://www.thailandbabybestbuy.com/article...=85&limit=5

http://www.elib-online.com/doctors50/lady_preg011.html

http://www.thaiclinic.com/question_cs_anes.html

etc

Hope that may be of some help.

Email a big hospital in Thailand in Thai and ask the questions pretending that you are just pregnant and are thinking about using them for the birth. Big international places should write back.
