Hi all, I need some advice on where to get my wife some medical insurance for her when she comes to the UK. I'm not sure she will qualify for the free treatment offered by the NHS, so does anyone know of a good scheme for Thia's coming to live in the UK?

What visa if she going on?

If it is a 2 year residency/spouse visa the she will qualify for NHS treatment the same as a UK citizen on arrival. Just register her with your gp as soon as she gets there.

If she's going for a visit then Thai BUPA do one for up to 6 months that is reasonably priced.

Suggest you search the Insurance Sub-Forum and contact Thaivisainsurance.

If she is your wife then she's on the NHS (or it was with my Japanese ex wife). Non married and fiancée visas need insurance so as not to be a burden to the state.

For Holland, the insurance had to be paid for and shown before the visitation visa was issued. I'd guess the UK would be similar and if she has the visa, then ok. Anyway, the NHS is not going to turn you away are they ?

2 year Settlement/ residency visa is the same thing so you will not need to take out any insurance for her as she will be entitled to the NHS as soon as she arrives.
