I will be taking the week of Songkran off and am looking for a fun holiday destination. Not too crazy with the water throwing but still some chance to party. Any suggestions?

my house on koh phan ngan. no water throwing necessary, though if you choose to join in, its over by late afternoon.

i fear neither of us is as attractive as our avatars suggest so my suggestion is prtty much moot.

Where am I going? The same as last year, the year before that and that....... I'm going to lock the door after I've filled the fridge and go into hybination leaving the drunken Thais and over enthusiastic Farang to it.

I've now tried "played water" 5 straight years on SongKran, in Phuket, Bangkok (twice), Pattaya (twice) and Chiang Mai.

This year I think I'm going to try Khon Kaen.

My goal is to try a different place every year April 13-15, and then some years do the "extended play" in Pattaya April 16-19.

So far Chiang Mai and Pattaya have been my favorites.q

Hi Heather. There's a nice small place called Ban Krud. You can reach it by train or bus. It belongs to 'Bangsaphan Noi', which is in the Prachuap Khiri Khan district. A nice beach, cheap, clean bungalows, fantasic seafood, motorc. for rent. A lot of coconut trees...you'll like it. There's no night life. Beautiful waterfalls, a lot of fun. Good luck from the lower North- east.. Mike
