My contract with my present employer will soon expire.

I plan to return the blue work permit book myself, rather than let my employer do it for me.

I think that the employer will usually issue a document, that confirms that the person in question is no longer employed, to be handed in together with the book.

But is this document absolutly necessary ?

Will the Labour Department refuse to accept the book if there is no supporting documentation from the employer ?

I'm still trying to find where it says this, other than the noted newsletter.

That info is a year old, and the KK office is still requiring WP's to be turned in to them. They indicated to me last week that there is nothing saying we don't have to turn them in.

I've sent an e-mail to Dej-Udom and Associates asking where they got the info from. Hopefully they'll be able to point me in the right direction, with a link, or at least a place to look.

I'll try to post the results.

You are no longer required to hand in the WP.

Thank you ! This is very good news.

In Thailand, it sometimes takes some time for information about new regulations to filter down to the people on the ground, that does the stamping.

Does the Labour Department people in Bangkok work in accordance with these new rules ?

Does anybody know ?

If you are on an extension of stay you will need that letter from the employer for your visit to the immigration office to cancel your extension and, if you want it, get a 7-day extension.
