I hope someone can inform me if there are any special circumstances granted regarding stay at home dads.We have a 1.5 year old son that i care for while my wife is working and she is the finacial supporter for our family at the moment.

I currently have a non O marriage visa extension that expires in a few months, based last year on family income exceeding 40,000 baht.

My wife has a good career and a monthly income exceeding 95,000 per month, but due to circumstances we cannot accumulate a spare 400,000 baht with enough time to comply with the newest rules of the amount in the bank 2 months prior to application.

I read in some other posts that certain cases may be assed on individual circumstances.Does anyone have any experience in gaining special considerations?

We are desperate to get some information regarding our circumstances, but up to now all of our attempts have been too unsual from the norm for the average call centre type operator to give, so they just quote the obvious from the new rules.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post ,and if u have any information it will be gratefully received.

I am is a similar situation , except that I have enough time to have the 400k .

I feel for you , especially the change of rules of the dicrimination of our wifes not being

allowed to take care of us anymore , no matter their income .

Their is a special closule in the new rules , which I am certain a moderator will give a link too ,

which states that by case by case their can be an exception to grant the extension for 1 time ,

so there is a chance they wil just grant you the extension , which the imm officer will look into ,

have the power to grant it for people alreay on extension , at least thats what I understand of it .

So my advise is just to try it , if rejected , go to Penang or Kl , and go for the multiple Non - O ,

100k on a bank account , and the other obvious papers will do the trick , so you will bbe able to extend on the 400k

when you have the finances in order , it have to be in your bank account only .

Good luck , the sky is not falling , just go around and perhaps the rules are changed again for our benefit in the meantime .

davidss1, all hope is not lost. Clause 2.18(5) of Police Order 777/2515 allows immigration to make exceptions:

I suggest you submit your application with a covering letter, preferably in Thai, explaining your family arrangement and ask for your application to be given special consideration under that last paragraph under 2.18(5):

In other necessary circumstances, The Immigration Commissioner or Deputy of Immigration Commissioner may approve on case to case basis.

There is no set answer. They look at the account book and like to see some movement. If it remains static for 12 months they will be asking how you support yourself.
