To be honest Susie, I'd bite my tongue, give him his 500 bht, ask for a typed letter of receipt and reference including 'that were a honest tenant, paid promptly, quiet etc.,

That way you've got him to work a little for his 500 bht, also you have details of where to avoid in future................
