I can take it as well as I can dish it, no worries, I'm sure all the old hands around here, Samran included, know that.

For what its worth, my OP (and sorry for the subsequent hijack) was of the "so watch your back, because it happens" variety.

:o

Thank you "Heng"

Your response (IMO honest and honorable) and info you have offered is much appreciated. Cheers

Friend, count your blessings, all women savor numerous styles of shoes lest they be seen shopping or at a gathering with a scanky pair of shoes on. Remember, Imelda had 3000 pairs of shoes in her closet! These weren't the street vendor type either I can assure you! LOL

i have a treasure of a wife ,who never wants anything(except shoes) how can a woman need so many?

:o:D:D

Our wives must be sisters! What on earth does one woman need 50 pairs of shoes for? :D

There's an older British gent in a similar situation that I know of. His wife put his (paid for by him) house/land in hock to my aunt and recently transferred to the property to us without his knowledge. She's since moved back up country (or at least away). Now we have to go through the process of breaking the news to him that he doesn't own his house.

:o

Judging from earlier posts of his, Heng comes from a well-to-do, if not affluent Thai-Chinese family.

Now at least we know where all this wealth comes from.

Mike

"All?" Hardly.

But I do admit that this is one branch of our businesses that is quite recession proof. When things are flush, people overspend and need more financial backing. When the economy is on the rocks, everyone is short and needs a bridge loan. If anything, it's completely clear that so many people have no concept of moderation. The house needs to be just a little bigger even though everyone already fits comfortably under one roof, they want to send the kids to Australia when there are plenty of other regional education choices, they want that top of the line truck when they haven't even paid off their house, etc., etc.

:D

That bit about "moderation" - a core principle of "Sufficiency Economy" - you wouldn't be warming to the idea of this theory would you Heng, and perhaps questioning your sometime support for Thaksin to whom ideas of "sufficiency" was anathema, while "spend now, pay back later!" and "debt is good!" were very much the name of the game?

Anyway, glad to hear the loan shark business is recession proof and you'll be coming out with a bulging bank balance at the end of the recession. Just don't forget to spend a little to keep the rest of the economy ticking, as you can't take it with you to the afterlife you know. :D Or can you? :D

Offer her hundreds of thousands of baht ? Are you people mad ?

She knows that either she accepts whatever he offers or she gets nothing. End of story. She will, as was stated, forget about it and perhaps even have to find him and offer him money to divorce of she hooks another guy in the future !

Just where do you guys get off on handing over what is about 2 1/5 years salary ?

I'd say that just about any person or family that has been able to weather all of the economic ups and downs throughout history has warmed to "moderation" long before 1997 when it was given a 'brand' here. And BTW, taking jabs at/making fun of both the anti and pro- Thaksin crowds doesn't make me a supporter of either group.

Will do. Always happy to spill a little from my glass. And actually, sorry to say, while you can't take it with you, you can keep it in the family. Just ask the originator of the "idea."

Don't mind the fridge and the TV. Get a few brown banknotes and pay cash for her signing at the Amphur. Do it quickly and never look back.

And it just keeps getting better. Problem solved at amphur and few minutes and a few signatures and she bought the "Hail Mary" bit too!

So on I go with my life, and they always say, the best 2 cures for a broken (not really broken, just given a wake up call) is booze and shagging ton's of women!

I met a nice girl a few weeks ago (now don't actually believe that) on the BTS, so I play along, she gives me her number blah, blah, we go to eat a few times, blah blah, then the subject of sex comes up, the "First comes love, then comes sex story" so I play along. We have fun though because I just go with the flow, but realize, I am the Captain of the Titantic, and constantly have to look out for IceBurgs etc, so the weekend comes along, I suggest going to the beach, she sends a message back she can go, but she is expensive? What, I replied, are you saying? I have to pay you to be with me? Reply back, no, is Thai culture, if I am your girlfriend, you have to take care of me, I will explain Thai culture when I see you Saturday!"

Needless to say I am rolling on the floor laughing! "She" is going to explain to "Me" about Thai culture and men taking care of ladies! I have to at least meet her to hear her version of the Thai love story, and thank her for her time, and thanks, but no thanks! Why sign a lease for a cow when their plenty for free and even weekend specials all around!

Sorry for my twisted sense of humor about this stuff, but you have to laugh and give the girl credit! She is just doing what is probably been beat into her head since she was an embryo!!

I got it though, spend quality time with the good girls and have fun with the naugty girls! It's the Thai way right?

I hate to be cold, but I am back to my old way's, "Don't play the player" is what I say! I know there are good ones out there, but that is not what I am looking for. From now on, when their lips are moving, I will just assume it is all BS until they prove otherwise! No exceptions, justification's, sorry but's anymore!

^^^ Best way to be Apache.

Let them earn the trust. It is hard when we get burnt and our trust is broken.

:o:D:D Oh..so now you have turned to be a disgust farang in LOS!!!

I felt sympathy for you at first when reading your open post, also felt really ashamed for that Thai girl who you lived with.... you were really unlucky..

Then you can get the problem solved..but start being a cheat and unreliable farang in here...

Very disappointed, really..

Don't you think people are individual..how come you begin to think all Thai girls will be the same as your ex?

I have never thought of doing 'like' the revenge when being cheated... Why don't just let the desperated yesterday gone and live again with pure 'new' heart..?

As my belief, no one will be all the time get disaster... I will take my bad experience to be a good life-lesson and be more careful for the next time....

What if people will keep pessimistic thinking and do bad to others.. finally there will be no friends... but the enemies...

:D:D:wai::P :jerk: :burp::burp:This is not nice lei....

That feeling will pass. :D:D

Good luck with your new start.... :o

Now, what visa will you apply for?

As usual we only got one side of the story, what is the ex wifes side in all of this. The OPs maturity in his dealings with women seems a bit lacking.
