I am here on a mulitple entry non-immigrant B visa with a work permit.  My visa expires April 24.  Do I have to leave the country to get a new visa?  And do I get a completely new one or do I get an extension?

I will be going to the US on April 7 for a few days, but I don't know if I will have the ability to get to the Thai embassy there.  I will be on a government ticket which may not be able to be changed--otherwise I would just stay the extra days required to get the visa.

1. Do you qualify for extension of stay? Company paperwork and income wise? If you do you can obtain one year extension of stay before your current permitted to stay until stamp expires.

2. To get a new multi entry visa would require leaving country.

3. If it is your visa itself that expires on the 24th and you return before that date you will get another 90 day stay and can then extend at Immigration if meeting requirements. If not and you do not obtain new visa on US trip you could visit Laos or Malaysia to obtain later - but multi entry may require more paperwork than your company can provide if not a major concern.
