Im 16 years old half Thai and English.

I Previously sent my british passport to the british embassy in Bangkok to re-new my passport. What i didn't know is that my visa had run out whilst my passport was being renewed. it had run out since the 21st of feb. But i am leaving the country to go back to the UK in june.

so im a little stuck because i don't have the 20k to pay for the overstay as i spent it all on flights. I want to get a new visa but don't know what to do.

Whatever you do, you will have to pay the overstay. Why have you not got a Thai Passport as wll as a UK one?

Have you got a Thai ID Card?

If you have ID card you could have extended your stay for a year for 1,900 baht. Now it appears you will have to find about 20k to pay your overstay fine before you can do anything else.

I tried getting a thai passport so i never had to have a visa again. but they wouldn't let me as i never did a Thai ID.

So, I tried to do a Thai ID but they said it would take over 4 months. But I leave to the UK in June so I couldn't do that.

is there anyway of getting a new visa now without paying soo much money. Because my overstay hasn't reached 40 days yet so i wouldnt have to pay the full 20k.

please help!!

If you leave by air now you will only have to pay the days you owe and be allowed to return immediately. Using a land crossing can also be done but you risk a police check on the way and that could result in arrest and court proceedings.

Perhaps a cheap flight to Penang or Malaysia and obtain a tourist visa for your return?

if i take a cheap flight to malaysia or somewhere close. do i still need to pay my over stay? and if i take a flight will they let me fly cus i dont have a visa. i just need a visa for 3 months. if i cant fly then ill take a bus.

and also does it have to be somewhere out of thailand?

You have to pay fine - after that you can leave - passport will be stamped overstay but will not effect getting a new visa. Malaysia does not require a visa to enter. Return to Thailand should be with a tourist visa from Penang or KL (free now). That will provide you a 60 day stay and could be extended another 30 days at Immigration if required.

demi, is your Thai parent with you here in Thailand?

If yes you can get an ID card within a few days, all that is needed is a house registration book which has the name of your Thai parent and your name listed and your birth certificate showing that you are Thai.

If your nationality on your birth certificate is listed as British, as it may well be since you were born before the law changed 15 or so years ago your parents will need to help you through the Thai embassy in the UK.

For now take the advise given to you in above posts and get to the airport in a hurry, pay the fine (no way around that!) and get a new visa in KL or Penang.

No i don't have a Thai parent here. And my dad who is British refuses to help with my visa situation as i am living on my own and working due to the fact that my dad could not afford my educational finances so he can't help with paying for a new visa.

Could i do this instead? :

when i was in school they normally did my visa but they didnt re do t when i left skwl so i had a few weeks over stay without knowing. I went to immigration to get documents for a drivers license. They checked my passport and saw how long over stay but i explained that the skwl normally did it and i was unaware so they let me off with no fine and extended my visa to the 21st of February

Now my passport expired on the 12th of feb so i sent it off to be renewed on the 18th cus i didnt realize it had expired. i sent it off and it took so long because i sent the wrong passport photos twice so it came back at the beginning of march. Then i realized my visa had expired and i had overstayed ive been trying to save up and trying to get thai ID so i can get a thai passport. And have been busy trying to sort it out.

So what if i go to immigration explain this and maybe they'll be a little nice and wont send me to detention centre or pay the full amount?? and im flying back to my home in the UK in june.

Then recently i fell sick in hospital with water contamination and just got realized yesterday i'm still trying to gather money but i'm sixteen and doing it on my own and can't figure out what to do!!

It is very unlikely that you will not have to pay the fine in full and exit the country in my opinion - but that is only an opinion - we can't provide guarantees.
