We have a beautiful blue/grey kitten of 8 months. She is extremely small ( about 10") Today she went on heat. Isn't this too young? Of course we are worries that her being so small if she could actually carry kittens. Advice please.

6-12 months is typical (about 80% of the adult weight), pregnant by 4 months has been known. First oestrus varies with breed, day length, pet/feral/free roaming, presence of males etc.

Spaying is usually recommended by 6 months.

Cheers........what is spraying? We inject all our cats.

Spaying - removal of the ovaries/uterus, sterilization, female version of neutering males.

Sorry, didn't read it properly. We had one cat done, but they went in the side, and left a horrible scar and place where the fur won't grow back. Apart from that the incompetent vet didn't stitch her up right and they burst when we were away and had to rush back 300km's. We'll stick to injections every two months.

If you got a proper vet, spaying is tremendously better fro the cats then the injections!

In Pattaya it's only about 600 Baht to spay a female, have 6 females spayed and not one done bad. It should only be a 2/3" incision on the underbelly...

The spayed cats do really become more docile and attached to their adapted humans!

On top of it spaying reduces the risk of cancer later on in their lives, something I doubt the hormone injections would achieve...

Took my dog to a vet in Surin today, as she's hardly been eating for the last few days. Nice clinic on 214 towards Prasat, on the left side, just as you leave town. Don't know if they spade, but would assume they do. You can always call the vet on 044-518569, her English is very rudimentary though, so you need to talk Thai with her. As for my dog, well she had a sore throat, got an antibiotic and a vitamin shoot, she's already much better and have started to nibble a bit on her food again.
