Is There A Solution To The Current Crisis Caused By Frequent Demonstrations?

it's a very common mistake to think the Reds are just marionettes of Thaksin. Even the bangkok post in an editorial yesterday noted that's a fallacy. Reds are not happy with the non-democratic powers that have a strangle hold on the Thai government, that's the crux of it.

if that is true and if any of the protesters are involved because of personal political convictions, then i applaude them for exercising that conviction but for every person who takes Thaksins money to buy thir support should be condemned for the paid for proxy that they are

Just been watching the Thai PM's car being attacked on the BBC. Shocking considering the amount of police at the scene. I'm not sure how this is going to be sorted without the Thaksin problem being sorted first. Thaksin still has a lot of support and the threat of him being prosecuted I don't think helps the problem. Maybe an amnesty and allow him back into the country then have him publicly announce his retirement from politics and an election ? For sure the pictures broadcast on the BBC does no good to the reputation of Thailand. The British just see it as a continuation of the last troubles even though its a totally different party causing the trouble now.

Do you really believe that the PM travels in a normal car - in which the windows are breakable! Have you ever seen VIPs being escorted stop at red lights! Surely even the Thais arent so lax as to let a buncn of hooligans so near to the PM. On the same day as this supposed event - I know many expats living in the area who weren't even allowed to return to their condos - prior to the non event.

I wonder if MR Abbisits team were given a crash course on 'agent provocater' on their trip to London.

Simple really - create a false security alert then use the situ to greatly increase security

Ya know if they do that it'll just be telling everyone that Thaksin really has power and the integrity of Thai law and Gov. will be out the window. They have to stay firm to the principals. One really rich megalamaniac cannot trancend the law to the degree he's trying. If he succeeds the world will see Thailand as another bannana republic and in the last 30 years they :o moved so far beyond that.

The solution in this crises is that the Thai people themselves, mujst decide that their country needs to move forward, constantly looking back and hoping for a miracle will not in my estimation do a dam_n thing.

Speaking to the locals near to where I live they do not understand the political ramifications of what is happening, when I say tourism is suffering as is exports they donot understand. This is perhaps why Thailand is as it is, the vast majority of people outside bangkok donot understand or even can comprhend what is happening, a rally stopped or traffic disrupted is acceptable, it does not effect them nor will it ever do so.

Misinformation or lack of communication is one of Thailands best weapons and the govt of the day uses it wonderfully, to find out what is really happening in Thailand one must scour the news form the surrounding areas in order to find out the truth such as it is.

Just like it's a mistake to think that all Yellows are Sino-Thai elite types who want to keep down the rural folk. We have a number of yellows in our office who went to the demos not because they support any of Sondhi's inane ramblings but because they were against Thaksin's abuses. None would support the kinds of electoral rubbish that yellow leaders mentioned. The Sino-Thai bosses in our office are active redshirts. They don't talk to each other about politics but both sets are quite happy to discuss things with the farangs.

It would be great if Reds could separate the issue of democratic elections from Thaksin. It is quite obvious that the Red leadership is more interested in pulling for Mr. T, and this has been reflected in the relatively disappointing numbers that have turned out for them. I'm sure a much greater and more inclusive movement could be achieved if it focused on democratic reform rather than being the spearhead for Thaksin's personal battle.

There is only one power in Thailand. It is the army. They don't give a dam_n who is the puppet leader of the month, when the people get bored with the whoever the current puppet leader is, they get replaced.

This is how it has been for the last god knows how many years and it is how it will stay. There is only one solution, get rid of the corrupt generals who are in control in league with those who control 99% wealth.

But that will never happen.

Corruption is so deeply intrenched all we can do is just vent our frustration at the situation. It will never change anything

Easy answer to this

Have General election let the people vote of course this probably wont solve it cause current power would lose and then demonstrate and take over the airport again and ignore the majority vote.

We've had several elections already. That won't change anything. This is a proxy war between 2 groups of elite criminals. Neither will accept loss, and both only pay lip service to concept of democracy, which means accepting the rule of law, not just how many votes can you buy.

This problem has to be solved the old fashioned way. We need guns. Lots of guns. Stock up and stay indoors until the bloodshed stops.

You said: "This is a proxy war between 2 groups of elite criminals." Teachers should get their students to write this 100 times on their blackboards.
