I am 9 months into a retirement visa and have reported to immigration every 90 days as required. I live in Chiang Mai but while on vacation on Ko Chang I did my 90 day stamp in Trat. I did this April 1st. The stamp is good until June 29 but they didn't want to have me give them the TM47 "Alien Notification" form. They gave me the actual form as well as TM30 (landlord reporting alien) but weren't concerned about me submitting it. The man actually said "Chiang Mai is more serious than here". I left a bit frustrated and confused.

My landlord submitted the TM30 and my stamp is valid but today a friend asked CM immigration about the TM47 and they said I need to do it or it's 500 baht a day penalty. I'll be back in CM in a week but don't know whether I should drive to Trat and insist they take the form or wait to get back to CM and give it there. Any thoughts? (Tomorrow is my birthday and I can't think of any better way to celebrate it than driving from my nice beach in Ko Chang to deal with Thai immigration officials no the mainland!)

Thanks.

Have you actually got a 90 day report receipt from Immigration?

On it will be your next report date.

If you have no record of reporting the fine is 2,000 Baht Total. Not 500 a day.

I have the white piece of paper clearly showing the new reporting date of June 29. It has writing that you have to report where you are staying. I'm happy to do the TM47 form also. I just don't know whether to drive to Trat (drag) or do it when I get back to CM. Maybe I'm already too late and I'll have to pay 2000 baht whenever/wherever I go.

I can not understand - in one breath you say you have the new reporting date of 29th so must have done it. In next you say they would not accept it. Have you filed the TM.47 and received a receipt for it on or about April 1? Or is this an April Fools question? I am lost!

They had no problem creating the new stamp for 3 months in the passport. They didn't want me to submit the TM47 so that's not complete yet. I thought I would be doing both in one visit. Now it's the 9th and I'm not sure what I should do about the TM47 which I would like to submit. I think I'll go to Trat tomorrow and insist they take the form and then deal with it again in a week in CM. I always try to be careful about submitting required forms and getting stamps in a timely manner. Eight years and I've never been late or had a penalty.

Stamp in your passport? Did you do a border crossing on a multi entry non immigrant O visa by chance? You do not normally get stamps in you passport on retirement every 3 months. If you made a border crossing your 90 days start on entry and you never have to make 90 day address reports if using a multi entry visa for 90 day stays.
