smartecosse Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Having spoken to the "advisors" in several stores that stock Garmin products and tried unsuccessfully to speak to someone at ESRI in BKK can anyone suggest somewhere on Phuket that sells the Garmin XT for windows mobile software with the Thailand maps? Also i need to find a bluetooth gps receiver of decent quality. Any suggestions would be appreciated

husskydog Posted April 12, 2009 Posted April 12, 2009 Why not just get the software for free, it`s out there..garmin xt mobile...thats what i did..pm if you want
hudriwudri Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 garmin XT is a crap, if u need to navigate on rural roads
smartecosse Posted April 13, 2009 Author Posted April 13, 2009 surely its the maps and not the software that was crap?
hudriwudri Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 you have a better Map for Garmin than the one everyone can buy? I use Garmin XT on my Nokia 5800, compared with Powermap on my PocketPC it'S a crap! Powermap has nearly ervery rural road, and thousands POI's, even Temples in small villages in Eesan, where Garmin not even has a road on the map!
LivinLOS Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 You mean this Garmin XT ?? http://www.pda4x.com/read.php?tid=62103&am...e=1&fpage=1 And the new 9.0 maps ?? (released days ago).. http://www.pda4x.com/read.php?tid=90380&keyword=thai
hudriwudri Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 i don't know, which version my map is, i bought it online on garmin website 4 weeks ago but fact: mine nearly not show any rural road in Eesan!
LivinLOS Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 i don't know, which version my map is, i bought it online on garmin website 4 weeks agobut fact: mine nearly not show any rural road in Eesan! Garmin were selling the VERY OLD 7.x series maps until recently.. Those 120 USD ones with memory card ?? Punting off old stock I guess. ESRI sell the Thai maps in Thailand.. Were charging 12k baht for them.. The difference between 8 and 7 was huge.. I have the 8.3 running on my garmin unit and not had time to test the new version, it was only released a couple of days ago.
hudriwudri Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 i just ttransfered the new maps from your link testing now
hudriwudri Posted April 14, 2009 Posted April 14, 2009 this map looking much better, thx for the link
