Abhisit is not the real PM. What can you expect from him? I feel Suthep is the real one.

Funnily enough, I felt exactly the same about Senor El Thaksin, the renowned Nicaraguan diplomatic-envoy, when his brother-in-law Somchai was PM.

He can, if he is given the chance. He is very honest, uncorruptible with no vested interests. He is highly qualified and good for Thailands image abroad. In spite of what his enemies say, he is a democratically elected prime minister the same way as many other Thai PM' s were by getting majority support from parliament MP's. People are fed up with Taksins supporters and I think the majority of Thais want him to continue as PM

A poll of a bunch of farangs on the Internet. What possible meaning does it have?

It means they were educated to think and express an opinion and that other peoples opinions have value and relevance!

It means that fahrangs show an interest in the future of the nation and it's people. This can be construed as empathy or altruism.

IMO the interest shown in the well being of thai people (with the usual lapses ) is commendable.

In the forum we can see a variety of views expressed relatively politely. No one has been shot or bombed for expressing their opinion and few have shrugged shoulders and said "up to you" or "not my problem"

When we get to the stage where Thai people can sit and discuss opposing political views in the open without fear of violence, reprisal, imprisonment or social ostracism.

Where each child grows to learn they are an important part of the social contract and their opinion counts.

Where respect is based on social merit, not wealth or family.

Where childrens individualism, invention encouraged and and positive ideals are nurtured.

Where this translates into integrity, transparency and a concern for others beyond self and immediate family.

yada yada, you get the idea right?

I agree with all of this, but it has no relevance to Thai people. What we think has no real meaning

Only the army holds the real power in Thailand. Abhisit is merely a puppet. It all depends on how the army decides to handle the current crisis.

After the recent protests and subsequent crackdown its easy to see where Aphisit and his poodle are leading the country........to a one party state where no opposition is approved or allowed. Once they feel secure from ' The Evil One ', then restraint will take a back seat and it will be snouts in the trough as usual.......only the pigs will have changed. A nice backward step in the countries fortunes.

Let's see. Every police officer and military officer that hasn't died or retired still has authority of one sort of another, leaving Thailand with more 'senior officers' of one sort or another than any other country in the world. Keep in mind, nobody ever gets 'fired', only 'transferred'. Even Thaksin remains a ranking police officer. In turn, nearly all of these folks have vested interests and are connected to the Thai Elite, or the Thaksin contingent, of the great western Thailand Slobovian Shoe salewomen's cooperative. They are all there, manipulating away, trying to get what they can out of the pot, be it rubber saplings, rice futures, illegal immigrant cheap labor, foofing cream etc etc. The only thing the majority has in common is some degree of corruption.

And you expect one man to turn this giant space daffodil around?

Then Thaksin is a businessman, Thaksin understand business. When Thaksin was in charge, the economy was so much better... That's what you hear in some business circles.

Political crisis ? Abhi may be the solution, actually anything is better than anarchy. Economical crisis ? Thaksin understands business ....

Thaksin understands crony capitalism in the same model as Suharto etc; he never really embraced deregulation or improvements in business; the 'establishment' you speak of also includes many of the so called business people running state granted monopolies (such as Shinsat, AIS, etc).

To call them business men is an insult to 'real' business tycoons (many who steer clear of politics, or back everyone).

The economy was very strong worldwide 2002-2006; does it make him a good business man to have great timing?
