Trip Report: Suan Plu

Recommended Posts

IMHO the most useful posts on this section of the TV forum are the first-person descriptions of recent visits to various Immo offices.

The following was my experience extending a non-immigrant (B) visa for retirement based on 800K baht in the bank at the Suan Plu office in Bangkok:

Yesterday (Monday) I went to the bank to get the letter verifying the balance in the account, and an up-date of the pass-book. Note that the letter from the bank to Immo does not make any reference to the source of the funds, i.e., whether they were transferred from abroad or not. And this does not seem to be an issue with Immo in the two extensions I've done so far -- though it may be.

Doing the bank letter a day before going to Immo has the advantage of allowing you to get there early to get a low queue number. I arrived at Immo at 7:30 this morning and lined up behind about 15 others. At 8:00 sharp the doors opened and I obtained my queue number for Room 101. I was third in line for non-B extensions (#902). At 8:30 sharp they started calling numbers; by 8:40 it was my turn. I was out with my new, one-year extension by 8:55.

Pretty smooth.

And for me, I did my 90-day reporting at Suan Plu a few weeks ago and was in-and-out within about 20 minutes. Maybe the recent requirement that individuals must use their local immigration office for certain immigration related issues/documents/permits versus Suan Plu has reduced Suan Plu's workload enough for them to provide prompt service.
