Marriage certificate and copy of it (both sides), wifes house book and ID card. And a bank book with some money in the account. Copy of of your passport photo page also,

You will need the same thing for a multiple or a single entry non-o visa.

Do not believe they will ask for bank book for single entry visa. This is normally an extra request if you want the multi entry type. But any non immigrant visa does require proof of 20k baht for expenses if they want to ask for it.

I would also have wife write a short/dated note asking that you be issued the visa. This helps prove ongoing relationship. Some places have asked for this so always good to be prepared.

I am passing through KL and do not have the originals only scans sent to me are these enough? If not what other visa could i get to tide me over? Longterm tourist visa etc?

Posted

Copies should be enough. Not sure about copy of bankbook though. You might only get a single entry if they get pickey.

Kl only gives single entry tourist visas.

They wanted to see a photocopy of my bank book. I told them I had the original with me, but they were satisfied with a copy. This was in August last year. However, things can change!

Ok well I will try for the Non O with photocopies. Are bank statements online ok from outside Thailand? I can put in to cover the 400,000 but it will only be in a month by the time I get there?

How long can I get on a tourist visa and is it still stay in 90, go out 90 days?

Tourist Visa is 60 days and can be extended for a further 30 days at Immigration. There is no limit on getting these back to back.

They are also free until June 4th.

For a Non Imm O Multi Entry there have been reports that they want to see 100,000 Baht in your bank.

You can also get a 60 day extension at Immigration in Thailand to visit your Wife.

From recent reports you don't need to show 400,000 baht in the bank. Just enough to show that you have money to live on. They should accept online statements.

A tourist visa is good for 60 days and then you can get an extesnion for 30 days (1900 baht). You don't have to stay out 90 days that was for visa exempt entries and that rule is now gone anyway.

If you only get a tourist or a single entry O you can go to immigration and get a 60 extension to visit your wife.

If you have 400,000 baht in the bank you can get a 1 year extension based upon marriage. If you want to do this a single entry non-o would be the best visa to get.

My Non O runs out 14 days before my return, is there nothing I can do with that? Also if I do not get the Non O because of photocopies, can you get the Tourist visa inside Thailand?

Posted

Nothing you can do with your non-o other than arrive earlier and use your last entry.

You cannot get a tourist visa in Thailand.

You should have no problem getting the non-o.

If you don't get a visa you could enter on a 30 day visa exempt entry and then get a 60 day extension to visit your wife.

Also if you live in Mukdahan as your from info says you could just cross the bridge to the consulate in Savannakhet and get a single entry non-o.

I know they only give a single. I was just giving you options.

One was to get a 1 year extension of stay. That way you would never have to worry about getting a multiple entry visa again. Just an annual extension of stay and a multiple re-entry permit.

Hello UJ,

What is the one year extension is stay? My Non O has runout so that would not be possible right?

Oh its all confusing. :o

I do however appreciate all the replies.

A one year extension of stay can be done with a single entry O visa. It can even be done with a visa exempt entry if you make the application within 9 days after you arrive.

You will need the 400,000 baht in the bank for two months. But the problem for you could be that you would need to be here long enough to get the extension and then a 30 day wait period while they consider your extension.

Edit: See 2.18 0f this police order: police_order_2008.pdf

So the single entry O for 3 months then a one year extend. Sounds good, will try it anyways saves me roaming around KL, can just enjoy my time on the beach and at the beach club!

Your top of the Pops Ubonjoe, I can see clearly now and my head doesnt hurt.

Thanks :o

Glad to help.

Like I said just make a trip across the bridge and get a non-o there. I have gotten one there myself. Take the wife along she probably would enjoy the trip and be a big help with the language and the consulate.
