Hi everyone, just want to have additional advice and tips again. I just knew yesterday that my employer extended my VISA and WP for another 90 days which earlier I informed to them that I don't want to for I will end my employment with them on the 30th of April.

  1. Now they are trying to tell me that since I did not finish my 1 year term with them (I'm with them for 8 mos.) I will have to pay for the expenses they incurr on obtaining my VISA and WP. Now I told them why are they charging me about it in the first place they did not inform to me about it when I started. So instead they just asked me to pay for the half amount. Although the amount is not that much I am still reluctant to pay and want to ask if there is really a law provision which states my employer's claim?
  2. Further, my boss' assistant informed me that my last pay will be based on the number of days I worked with them. So I asked does it mean they will have to deduct me during the Songkran Festival holidays? He replied to me with a yes. I asked him to what basis and he just said he was just instructed to do so. Is there a legal basis again on my boss' claim? It's like they're pinning me down.

I will cancel my VISA and permit on the 30th of April eventhough I still have an extension for I do not want to prolong the agony and I will just request for an extension of stay by myself at the immigration. Any advice from you fellows is very much appreciated. :o

As soon as your job ends your extension of stay ends. You have to leave the country or get a 7 day extension. You do not cancel a visa. You cancel an extension of stay.

How do you plan on getting an extension that is more than 7 days?

There is no requirement for you to cancel your work permit.

1 and 2 will depend upon what your employment contract says.

As far as holiday pay goes I think they will need to pay you for those.

Thank you for the information, right now I'm comepletely disturbed and confused. I've read in the other forum and if my interpretation is wrong please correct me. For this is the steps that I would take tommorow April 30.

It states there that on your last day of work you have to go to the Immigration Bureau to notify them of your end of employment along with you a letter of confirmation from your employer. (My 1st step)

Then I have to apply for an extension of stay or leave the country. (Step 2)

No need to surrender my WP. (Step 3)

But my supervisor informed me to give to her the book and notify her of my plans if I am going to work for another job. By the way I will be starting to work on the 18th of May.

No need to give your supervisor the WP or notify her you are going to work somewhere else.

But you will only get an extension of stay of 7 days, so you will need to leave the country anyway. Might be easier to just leave the country tomorrow and go to vientianne for a oduble entry tourist visa to see you through. Would save you 1,900 baht and no need to go to immigration as you would leave the country.

With your tourist visa you can then convert to a non-B when you have your new job.

Leaving tomorrow means submit application Monday morning and pick up Wednesday afternoon. Days 1, 2, 3, 5, and 8 are non workdays.
