As the topic says, is a Barbie Doll style doll too old for a 3 year old girl or would I be better off getting a cloth type doll?

Need to know for the morning as is her b/day tomorrow, please :)

Depends on each girl really. But as a general answer, no. In fact, if i recall, Barbie is usually recommended for 3+

Girls can, and do, usually play with Barbies up until around age 10.

But my grandaughter always prefered bratz.

My daughter is 4 and she loves barbies, she has a few of them.

There are bits of Barbie everywhere though with legs, arms, heads and torsos all over the place.

Go for the Barbie - I know which my daughter would prefer

She'll be 3+ tomorrow...... get the Barbie - whatever suggestions you get here, when your daughter asks for something, she'll get it anyways :)

Grrrr... tried 3 times to reply to this

Thanks for the input. Must admit with having sons myself and being of a certain age, dolls are not my forte

Bought a 4 foot cuddly toy last year and that went down a storm. Was great to see her rolling around on the floor with it and bouncing all over it.

I am off to Tesco tomorrow morning early to buy a Barbie before the afternoon party. Just found out the other day about the birthday. Want it to be a surprise, so only asked the mother in a general way about a prezzie

I dont know if Bratz is popular in Thailand. To be honest, I thought Bratz would be one hit wonder. I remember a few years back in the UK that they were popular, but no idea if they are still liked. My niece is 8 years and she loves Barbie. If i got her a Bratz she would be disappointed. If I have my own kids one day, im sure Barbie will still be around, not so sure about Bratz tho.

Anyway..not sure why im getting so into the topic of Barbie -vs- Brats, hahaha! I suppose i must still be a closet Barbie lover (well..actually my love was for Cindy..but nevermind!)

:) Old Croc, is that for real?

Get her the Barbie, she'll love it. But don't forget to get at least one outfit as well. Barbie needs at least one change of clothes.

See, it starts very young :D

Yep. Barbie has joined the ranks of "Tramp Stamps" I saw a news report on youtube. I was surprised...

I am getting one in the morning (this morning) OK OK? Hahahah.

Good to see the positive responses and advice. Thanks.

Not a lot available here in Thailand for toys as gifts, especially now Xmas is gone. Have seen Barbie dolls in Tesco for 595 Baht.

AND an extra suit? Sigh, OK, SBK. Next you will be advising me to buy that cooking range and a horse and and and :)

I'll know by the look on her face tomorrow afternoon if she loves it and also if her 6 year old sister is a tad peeved (but her b/day is June, so she can wait a month) :D

A tattoo? On a Barbie? Whatever next????

The Barbie and the tea set were received really well. Was great to see her face as she looked at it and could not wait to get the bits out of the box.

Her first words on seeing it were 'It is beautiful.' :)

So the Barbie was a good choice.
