So I'm a young half-Thai studying at Chula, not your typical expat, and I went out with my co-workers to RCA (Route 66 in particular).

Good crowd, young (and by that I mean if you look over 30 you'll feel out of place), the place had decent music etc etc. It's a place to dance and make friends, not find bar girls or get wasted.

Relevant information to the thread aside, I have a query of my own:

-I lost my fuc_king Coach eyeglasses there and could kick myself. Cost me several hundred back home and they're prescription, so I have to figure out something before the start of term. Any advice, ideas, insults would be appreciated. I've left posts all over Route 66's website, called their offices, emailed the webmaster, gone back to search the place myself, talked to all the coworkers who were with me, so far without success.

-If I have to call off the search party, where should I go to get some new glasses made? I'll need an eye exam to determine my prescription and I'm not willing to pay a lot because frankly I surprise myself with my antics and this will likely happen again.

Thank you in advance for reading this and I hope you enjoy your time in Thailand!

too late to get that old one. When you lose something there you will never get it back.

Gotta disagree, R66 is a great place to get wasted. :)

I wouldn't worry about paying a lot for an examination, that part is normally free at any store. The expensive part is if you want imported frames, if you just want Thai ones you won't be spending much. My last pair were under 2000B for frames and lenses and included the exam for free.

Go get one of those luk kreung acting or modeling jobs and make a bunch of money so you can buy some new ones. :)

Sorry for the lost of your eye glasses, might well write them off as a lost, sorry to be downer but my guess is some may have sit on them or just plain old toss them out. :)

They look like glasses for an old man??/

Yeah, they do, but it's been long enough that they've become trendy again. :)

Yeah, they do, but it's been long enough that they've become trendy again.

Thanks for the advice all. Yeah I'm not going to bpai tiew in my "trendy" glasses again. When I left for Chiang Mai for Songkran I placed them in the case and put them under the pillow in my dorm and wrote myself a note in the wallet saying "Dumbass your glasses are in BKK. Don't freak out" Hehe.

I'm not going to bother with contacts for going out though... I can see pretty well and if I can't... it's not usually because I'm missing my glasses!

And DP25, I'm a lowly student, how am I to afford getting drunk in R66? It sure is fun, but if I'm not sharing the bill with a bunch of friends, it's too expensive!

from the looks of those specs - I think you will do better off without them.

What do you mean? I think I looked smart and professional sitting at my desk doing nothing. Smart as in "That's a smart suit." I won't presume to tell people on the internet that I consider myself intelligent.
