Er-6n, Bangkok And Chiand Mai

After I decided to finally get the Kawasaki ER-6N, I went to the Kawasaki shop at Rama 9 with some cash to put where my mouth is, and asked how many days it will take till I get my bike.

The sellers start laughing, first I thought that something was wrong with my Thai, perhaps I said "ki" instead of "kee", who knows, but then they continued and said that it will take 3 months till I get the bike.

I left the shop shocked, as I was considering 2-3 weeks to be an acceptable amonut of time to wait for a new bike.

While sharing this story with my friends that evening, one of them mentioned I shold call Pattaya and Chiang Mai's Kawaski aganceics.

To my surprise, the nice lady from Kawasaki Chiang Mai said it will take 14 days till I get the bike.

Woo, I "will have to" go to Chiang Mai and bring the bike down to Bangkok, oh please no..

Can't wait for this road trip and break the motor in on the same time.

Anyway, why am I posting here?

Have any of you bought a new bike from a different province? should there be any issue with that regarding annual registration or selling etc. etc.?

How about the fact that Chiang Mai can give me the bike in 2 weeks but Bangkok in 3 months(!!) that's quite a difference, no?

Well as CM will get the bike from BKK can they not take the money and leave the bike with the main distro where it comes from for paperwork ??

Or are they simply over promising to gain a customer and hoping they can keep telling you 'soon soon' ??

- Yes, no problem. The garage should do everything for you and they can send the plate/documents through the post.

- No issues with annual registration or selling, you can do all that locally. The only issue is if you want to take the bike out of Thailand. The translation of the registration document can only be done in the province the bike is registered or any province bordering a foreign country (TIT).

Can't comment on the delivery.

Its easier of its a BKK plate in other provinces than a provincial plate.. Selling an out of province plate can take a bit longer that (if the buyer was uptight) could be a problem.. Not a real big one, and as this is a legit kwaker it will be a lot easier.. But big bike books and delays make people nervous..

I would try for the bike to be BKK registered.. Wouldnt be a real problem, but I would see if they couldnt work around it..
