I want to move to Bangkok in a few years, and I am considering some possible job opportunities. Are private English teachers or tutors in high demand amongst Thai students? If so, is it difficult to get a job as one (I'm currently in America)?

At the moment things are going very slow. If you look on ajarn.com you will see jobs advertised there, and also a blog about the state of the job market at present

Hard to predict what the opportunities will be in a few years time. Thailand is constantly changing its mind on many issues right now.
