:) I hope that nobody had ever had to see a doctor in that department, but I am a member of many groups of sick children that try to collect the money and go to Israel, Germany or other European countries for cure, most of the time they can't find the money 100-150k euros and.... I was thinking a lot on how I can help, I think in Thailand all medical treatments are much cheaper than in Europe, while the quality is still good....so maybe I can recomend those parents to try to opt for Thailand... but I am not a doctor and maybe someone here is... I dont know where to start my research on good Thai Paediatric oncologist, and then I'd have to compare their offers, to those that european doctors are giving...

or should I not even try? and there are no miracles in Thailand??? it doesn't really take a miracle, but sometimes good healing hands of a proffessional from the heart...can I find one here?

sorry it's been on my mind for too long to keep it in... any ideas are good, please share your thoughts...

hi there good person, i am always willing to help people in need so feel free to ask me for any help as i live in thailand . My advice is to try bumrungrad hospital, however the prices will be the higher end in bangkok but still ch than europe i think, you could also try bangkok christian hospital which is alot cheaper and in my past experiance i found out that my doctor actually went and preformed dures for the expencive hospitals because he was the best in the field. if you want me to ring any of the hospitals for you then just give me a list of questions and i will do my best. to be honest I don't even know where to start, surely I can just tryo to contact all the hospitals and see which ones actually deal with leukemia and meduloblastomas ( these seem to be the most common in cases that ask for help ) but without review from other people will I ever know if this hospital is good in what they do? then each case is so different and time frame is so tight...

I don't know if my search will yeld any good..

for me to offer this option to people I have to be sure that in Thailand they have all the knowledge and technology to cure... Bumrungrad... while I am myself go to Bumrungrad I can say I was lucky with the doctor, and I have tried to see other doctors there and found that most of them are not even interested to find out what is really wrong with you, it's like they don't even listen just tell you that either you are ok and it is normal or give you some unnecessary meds that you will later find out have nothing to do with your illness...

when it comes to life and death situations you want to make sure the decision you make is one of the best ones...

There are Pediatric Oncology specialists/departments at:

Bumrungrad Hospital : 3 pediatric oncologists on staff in their Children's Center. Contact: [email protected]

Samitivej Srinakorn Children's Hospital: excellent hospital, 2 US trained pediatric oncologists on staff. Contact: [email protected] or [email protected]

Bangkok Hospital: Has 2 US-trained specialists in pediatric hematology-oncology (leukemia etc). Contact [email protected]

The above are high standard facilities and ablke to provide comprehensive assistance to patients coming from abroad. They are at the top end cost-wise for Thailand but would still be less expensive than private care Europe. You can get cost estimates for specific treatments by email although Bumrungrad tends to be slow in that regard and some patience/repeat emailing may be needed before you get the info you need. Be sure to provide sufficient detail about the treatment needed and the patient's current condition e.g. whether ambulatory or needing inpatient care etc.

A less expensive, non-profit alternative is Saint Louis Hospital, which has 1 US-trained specialist in pediatric hematology-oncology in staff who is also in a senior position at Chula.

Chulalonghorn Hospital, a tertiary level major government teaching hospital, has good capacity in pediatric oncology and would be a great deal less costly than the private hospitals listed above, but accessing it would require much more time and bureacracy with more language barriers. Probably not a good option for people coming from abroad. Some of the doctors at the private hospitals listed above also have privileges in government hospitals and might be able to facilitate admission to them for particulalry costly procedures (e.g. bone marrow transplant).

If the problem is leukemia or lymphoma I would suggest Assoc.Prof Panya Seksarn M.D at Saint Louis Hospital. He also has privileges at Chulalonghorn.

Good luck

thank you for such a full reply I have found that Paiyavate hospital offers some Oncology & Gene Therapy Cancer Treatment I will have to see what is it... it is difficult for me at the time as there are lots of kids with multiple problems and some are very urgent, so I am at loos of where to begin...

I worry that people are saying that it is BEST to be treated in Europe, I can't believe, but I know that not all medicine availabel in Europe is available in thailand anâ it can possibly affect the end result...

anyway will try to contact Bumrungrad first coz that's where I am doing my checkups... and Bangkok hospital I have found to be pricier than other 2 Bumrungrad and Samitivej... so I would not go there at all...
