A shame for Thailand to support a country which starts wars all the time and murders civilians.

Not long time ago there was an article in the german press about a guy tortured in an secret US jail in Thailand. They tested on him new strategies to torture people :):D

You must be out of touch with reality. All countries interrogate prisoners and if you were not there then I would have to say that you believe in hearsay. Get mad if you like but I would love to hear from what country your origins began.

All countries interogate prisoners, of course. Not ALL countries contravene the Geneva convention. I would have thought that a country acting as the "World's Policeman", claiming to be the beacon of the free world, the champion for democracy..... would set a good example and maintain the moral highground.

Phuket must have given them a great idea to plant training facility in Thailand.

Isn't it amazing that America can do what it wants? The Thais seems to agree in everything they do, to loose face and a major trading partner, they still think the world relies on America.

uhmm.. almost close.

Phuket, Thailand to Lopburi, Thailand (site of the new training facility) = 802.4 kilometers

Datsun seems not not understand the difference between a training facility and a port call.

America can do what it wants? Does he believe they initiated this training facility unilaterally without the Thai's input?

Does the world rely on America? I'd say so.

I'd say so.

Really? And how does it?

Redundant question, Datsun.... because the first question was not complete: "Does the world rely on America.....?"

Depending how you finish the question, eg, "Does the world rely on America.....to invade any country that has resources it covets?" could be answered differently to, "Does the world rely on America to.....stand for justice, anti-corruption, racial harmony, peace, and financial stability?".

It all depends on the complete question, and how blindly patriotic one may be.

Not always. Even in the 70s at the height of cold war and communism threat in the region some right wing nationalists went to demostrate and pee on the American flag in front of the American Embassy in BKK..

Yes it's quite normal there but not so here where the American can roam the country with beer in one hand and local girl on the other. Anyway, back then it was general belief that the incident caused the US to pack up most of their military equipment when they moved out of Thaialnd and the Indochina fighting instead of giving it to the Thais as usual.

Can this thread be cleaned up? I have never seen so much crap posted in one place on this forum. If it cannot be cleaned up, can it be closed and a new moderated thread started.

The story is a little hard to follow when everyone that has a spare minute that ever hated America decides to troll the thread and get worse when some people are silly enough to take the bait.

This project has only just began and many people are interested in following its progress as its reported in public media. There is some speculation the project will be canceled and never get past the planning stages.

Yes, that torture stuff sounds bad. As we are a democracy, we kicked out the torture guys and are doing our best to stop using torture. Keep in touch and remember who liberated Europe from the Nazis and Asia from the Japanese, ha ha ha.

The Soviet Red Army liberated Europe from the nazis and the US Army liberated Asia from the Japanes.

Can we dump the dumb history section and get back on topic?
