Moving To Chiangmai

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

I've been following this forum for some time and have received a lot of useful information from it.

I will be moving to Chiangmai on June 3rd, so I hope to be an active participant and look forward to meeting some of you.

Welcome to Thailand and have a safe trip. Chiang Mai is a fun pace and got alot to do. I am sure you will enjoy it. Any advice just drop us a e-mail. Good luck.

I'm not a Burnley fan, I'm a West Ham supporter, same colours as Burnley. I am pleased to see Burnley back in the top flight after so long and judging by the way Man U played the other night, I don't think Burnley have anything to be unduly worried about. .

Seriously, I am a little bit familiar with the medical services in Chiangmai, but was wondering if anyone knows of a neuro specialist that I might contact when I arrive? Nothing to do with my brain (though some may question that) rather some ongoing problems with a trapped nerve that could require surgery I'm told. I don't feel I'm getting anywhere with the good old NHS and everything needs a referral and referrals can take ages here!

Any advice on this and general medical services will be much appreciated. Thanks.

You are coming to the right place there are 3-4 neuro hospitals hear and they have many patients.

In terms of medical services I think you'll be very happy with what you can find here. A suggestion : do some searching on this forum for threads with the keywords : "Sripat" and "Suan Dok." And to know where not to go : search on "Chiang Mai Ram."

"Sripat" is an institution within the grounds of the giant sprawling medical complex associated with Chiang Mai University collectively referred to as "Maharaj Hospital" and often just referred to as "Suan Dok" since it is near the famous and important Wat Suan Dok on Thanon Suthep.

Sripat is where you will find specialists who are American or English or European trained (and with credentials) of the first rank, many are professors in the medical school. Many also have private clinics where they will see you at night. Getting "admitted" into their system and finding the right doctor may take some time and patience, but it is worth it. I have had the best medical are I've ever had there for a serious condition (tongue cancer).
