Tickets For Chao 80th Birthday

Just found out that Chao Duangduan na Chiang Mai is having her birthday party at the Empress Hotel on Sunday May 24. 800 baht a ticket. where can we get tickets?. why did nobody promote / tell foreigners about this event?? is there anywhere us (foreigners) can find out of events coming up?

i checked on the chiang mai mail - but did not see anything, i missed the parade yesterday as well!

I believe I saw this promoted somewhere, too, in one of the many free local tourist-oriented magazines. Sorry, but I forget which.

Perhaps try calling the hotel?

A charity event or just a birthday celebration?

Strange---you'd have to PAY me more than 800B to attend this sort of event, sure to be full of boring speeches (I've been to things like this before). I've certainly seen it widely promoted and I know that many farangs have bought tickets. It may even be sold out so there must be many who like such---the world is indeed a strange place.
