Teaching Geography

Ive been asked to teach geography this school year, and the school has no course books, so I need to buy my own.

Can someone recommend a course book and a teachers book in English for P5 and the company I can buy them from.

geography in thailand. Well, I think it would be a great thing to open their eyes a bit. A few of the ladies I met up with over there thought Thailand was an enormous country. I happened to have a map of the world in the back of my travel book and when I showed them the true relative sizes of countries they were very surprised. Outside things are not taught very well in Thailand. Then again, in the USA most kids could not point out Laos on a map either except maybe because they heard some older relative mention the vietnam war.

Amazon dot com carries almost anything and probably in new and used form. I did a quick scan on the internet and found a few books that looked like they would work for you. You can probably do the same and see if they suit your needs.

On a side note. I used to ballroom dance a lot in Los Angeles. There were many many asian ladies that were involved with that. And I mean adults. After a few years, one confided in me that she always thought the Viennese Waltz was the Vietnamese Waltz. Really not much understanding of the origins of things.

Good luck with the education. Buy a few inflatable globes. Three dimensions can be much more useful than just flat maps. Helps with distance and scale and imagining things.
