yeah ! gong xi fa tsai to everyone ! doubt though that "ampau na lai" would work here in Thailand. although my wife told me that one who wears red color (auspicious according to chinese beliefs) and goes to China town tomorrow can get a lot of free stuff and even win something like car or some other prizes - even farangs. she said she'll go.

I like to see it referred to a the Year of the Rooster! I was born in a previous Rooster Year and have been trying to break my wife of the habit of calling it the Chicken Year .

Actually year of the Rooster is just a western translation. It is year of the chicken! There is no Chinese translation to Rooster! Just western romanticism!

the coming lunar year (not chinese btw) is the year of adult male chicken and if someone want to call it Rooster - good for both of them.

also, the colour is blue so can say "the coming year will be marked as a year of :

1. Navy blue fighting cocks

2. Sick poultry

3. Something about new viagra pills

etc.

anyway, it has nothing to do with any western religion, so for christians and others means nothing
