i've grown tired of using the crooks my village recommends for plumbing and electrician work. i hate when they don't give a price first, then they submit an absurd bill. anyway, if anyone knows a reliable plumber and a reliable electrician that can speak some english, that works in the East sukumvit area ("dark side"), i would appreciate their contact info for future use. thanks

judging by the lack of interest in this topic, i guess everyone here has world class electrical and plumbing installed. maybe that's why i can't find them either, cause they are so lonely cause they never get work, cause everyone's plumbing and electric was installed so perfectly the first time. a true testiment to pattaya quality.

Im looking for a qualified electrician or a proper company to do a whole house wiring job for me in bang sare too... no luck so far finding anyone that has a good reputation. Many people know electricians but they all tell me they wouldnt recommend them to anyone!

I know (and have used) of a very qualified Thai electrician. He is the nephew of my expat friend who is married to a Thai lady. He previously worked as an electrician on high-end housing construction in Phuket, but due to the construction slowdown, is staying with family here in Pattaya (Farside) for now. He is familiar with Western safety standards. He is very personable, reliable and trustworthy...his English is limited but with pictures and pantomine, you can make yourself understood. He can also do basic plumbing work but he is a trained electrician. PM to me if you want contact info.

I do all my own plumbing as it is one of my trades I am good at & would not dream of hiring the useless fools that insist on putting the piping in concrete instead of the cavity or making an cavity so your not busting out everthing to get a 30 baht coupling. I wish I did electrical . the installation work is usually twisted wires & black tape. "BITE" :)

Go figure I live in Bang Sare...the problem is they might be good once & get hooked up on Yabba the next .

Common problem - that & getting the lazy shits to show up.

We use a Thai guy who has done all our work for our homes and businesses for more than 5 years, he would have to be the most reliable and honest person we have met here - he sticks to his price and his price is very good - and if he said he will turn up at 8am he will be there on time or before - his name is K. Meng and he is happy for me to post his telephone 08 1576 9150 in fact he was contracted by Pattaya Properties and other agents to do all their maintenance work

Can anyone recommend a good electrician in Bangkok? Actually Samut Prakan (Bang Phli) area. We are getting shocks from our shower which is not a good sign. I have a basic understanding of electrics but this problem comes and goes which doesn't help. Also there is no standard colour coding for the cables in my house! obviously the genius who wired it just used whatever cable he had left over in the back of his pickup. My live wires are a mix of black grey and whites, my return/negative wires are a mix of black, grey and white and the earths are mostly green and yellow but with a white one thrown in there just to make things interesting.

By the way if anyone is interested in knowing the name of the Company from which I bought my house please drop me a line and I will be willing to let you know so you can avoid them. They actually think that they are devoid of any responsibility because it was not them who actually built the house but subcontractors!!! They had a project manager and project engineer on site when the houses were being built, so my question is what the hel_l were they actually doing if not monitoring and signing off on the work of the subcontractors?

My favourite is the following:

After we moved into the house, once the first rainy season came we had a small stream running through our lounge from leaking windows. When we reported this to the office they said "oh, it was dry season when the house was built". Fair enough in itself but they actually expected us to just GO AWAY, once they told us the reason. Obviously we stayed and asked when they were going to fix it, they were actually quite shocked that we expected them to fix it as well!

The list goes on and on!

If anyone does know that electrician though I would be pleased to hear from you, I am ok with cold showers but my wife has quickly become accustomed to hot water!

cheers all

Just have to res erect this thread to give credit where it is due, thanks seadoo, I gave him a call and as you say he is very prompt. Did some electrics for me, good work and very reasonable price. Definitely a number saved on my phone and would recommend him to my friends.
