KEYWORDS: Red bull, energy drinks, bangkok, Thailand, caffeine, taurine, content, osotspa

I have been in Thailand more than a year now and have been somewhat perplexed by the assortment of energy drinks. Not knowing exactly what is in each one as the ingredients are written in Thai I volunteered myself as a guinea pig to determine which one has the strongest stimulatory effect. I would have said Caribu from experience but after having my gf translate the ingredients it would appear they are almost identical in the actual amount of ingredients that give a stimulatory effect. The Lipovitan has a larger spectrum of ingredients at the right dose and on paper this appears to be slightly superior.

Red Bull 150ml: Sucrose 24g, taurine 800mg, caffeine 50mg, inositol 30mg, vitamin B3 20mg, dexpantenol 5mg, Vitamin B6 3mg, citrate 0.99g

Caribu Daeng 150ml: Sucrose 26.5g, Taurine 800mg, Caffeine 50mg, inositol 30mg, Nicotinamide 20mg, dexpantenol 5mg, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12 5mcg, citrate 0.99g

M150 150ml: sucrose 25g, taurine 800mg, caffeine 50mg, inositol 50mg, niacinamide 20mg, pantotenol 5mg, vitamin B6 5mg

Lipovitan D 100ml: Sucrose 24g, taurine 1g, Glucuronalactone 0.4, Caffeine 50mg, Citrate 0.5g, inositol 0.05g, niacinamide 20mg, Pantotenol 5mg, Vitamin B6 5mg, Vitamin B12mg

Tune up 100ml: sucrose 24g, taurine 200mg, magnesium lactate 200mg, choline bitartrate 60mg, caffeine 50mg, inositol 50mg, L-carnitine 30mg, glutayis(?) extract 30mg, rosemary 30mg, vit C 20mg, niacinamide 20mg, willow bark 20mg, camomile 10mg, pantotenol 5mg, vitamin B6 4mg

Bing Boost: High frustose corn syrup 4.7%, sugar 3.1%, citrate 0.2%, leucine 0.064%, sodium chloride 0.05%, iso-leucine 0.03%, valine 0.03%, l-carnitine 0.02%, lycine 0.004%, niacin 0.0007%, vitamine E 0.0002%, vitamin B6 0.00014%, vitamin B12 0.00002%

It's all sugary shit quite frankly. Basically nothing of benefit to the human body in more than trace amounts, apart from water.

Watch out for M150 export in the West; it's dilute garbage.

It has a yellow top instead of gold, without the star.

Very disappointing, thought I was getting the taxi-driver's friend, and zilch.

never noticed any energy boosting from these, but M150 mixed with sponser, singa soda & crushed ice makes the best refreshment I have tasted after a hike from Lumpini to Ratchada soi 3 when i'm bored of public transport & traffic jams. Probably the only suger & shit I get as most meals are rice, sticky rice & more rice.

I don't know, but I prefer the "tablets" version.

I think food gives you 'better' energy... oh and if you're older than middle aged... be careful... a friend of a friend died here last year after chugging three red bulls in a row! Did something bad to his heart!!!
