Trip To Thailand In 2 Weeks, Have Some Visa Questions.

Featured Replies

I know that my question can be answered reading on the forums but I feel more comfortable with someone posting the correct response.

I'm from the United States and I'm 23 years old.

I will be flying to Bangkok on June 28 with a return date of September 8th. During that trip though (August 9-29) I will be flying from Bangkok to Budapest, Hungary and then be flying back to Thailand with about 11 days or so left before I return to the states.

With my particular situation what visas or forms will I need to expect to fill out when I arrive, plus what fees will be involved.

Thanks for everyone's info in advance.

In other words, you have two trips to Thailand:

Arrival 28 JUN 2009; departure 09 AUG 2009; duration of stay 43 days.

Arrival 29 AUG 2009; departure 09 SEP 2009; duration of stay 11 days.

Before you leave the USA you should get a single entry tourist visa from a Thai consulate. On arrival in Thailand, you will receive permission to stay for 60 days. This covers your first stay in Thailand.

For your second arrival in Thailand on 29 AUG, you do not need a visa. On arrival, you will receive permission to stay for 30 days. As you have a ticket from Bangkok to the USA for 09 SEP you will have no problem boarding in Budapest without a visa for Thailand.

Thanks a ton for the info, just what I was looking for. Is the single entry tourist visa something I can get at the airport or online or will it be one of those forms they hand me on the plane before we land? I will be flying from Dallas > Tokyo > Bangkok

You get a tourist visa from Thai consulate in the US before you leave. You can do it by mail to an honorary consulate if you are not near one. It will only take about 3 days if you use overnight mail.

You can find a list here by using the pulldown menu at the top of this webpage.
