How Long Can I Stay?

Hey,

I'm looking to travel to Thailand.

I work as a freelancer over the internet, and just wondered how long i am able to stay without Visa's etc?

Depends on your nationality.

If you are from one the visa exempt countries you can get 30 days stamp from airport that you can renew indefinedly by flying out and back in every 30 days. You can do boder runs and get 15 days stamp at the time but latest reports say that they now limit it to 4 times. It is suspected that they do this to track foreigners working illegally in Thailand which is what you are technically trying to do.

Whatever you do over the internet it means you are performing the work in thailand and technically need work permit to ge legit. However guys who do this claim they are not interested in you as your income comes outside. Who knows but there is threads here with more info on this one. Definedly if you lay low there is low propability that you get problems.

Anyways, you could get double entry tourist visa from your home country or if you are from UK there is reports you can even get one year multiple entry non immigrant visa which means border run every 90 days. This would be the most cost effective option.

People at Thai Visa, Residency, Work Permits are in a better position to give you unbiased and accurate information regarding how long you can stay. I suggest you post there.

MJo, gave accurrate advice based on the information you gave. I'm sure if you do a little research, that can easily be verified with the moderators.

You should at least get a tourist visa instead of doing border runs or flying out and back.

If you are in Eurpope for instance the UK you could even get a multiple entry non immigrant O visa to visit friends at the Thai consualte in Hull. It means you would have to leave every 90 days and return getting a new entry you can just make a border run to do this. You would get almost 15 months of stay from this visa if you did an entry just before it expired.

You have already been told about the work permit issue so I won't go into that.
