Thaksin Scores Over Newin In Sakon Nakhon By-election

I know the salaries of a lot of the Thais I work with who consider themselves "middle class", and I can tell you now they're well short of the 100,000 baht per month Koo has previously stated she's earning.

For so-called middle-class, 100,000 baht a month is pretty exceptional.

(And I seriously can't see any of them being red-shirt supporters. A large majority of them still wear the staple yellow on a Monday, whatever that means nowadays.)

As in many countries (particularly the USA) there is a difference bewen what class people consider themselves to be in and what class they are actually in judged by the standard measures. It was interesting observing the recent US electoral campaign how many people people who were obviously blue collar or working class but considered themselves to be middle class.

Having said that I agree Bt 100,000 pm or even lower would cover many Thai middle class people. My point was really made in relation to expatriates.

No I am not but as far as I know is that I see at least 3 people in one picture considered to be criminals.Yet none of them have served 1 day in jail.

Actually 4 if you consider that Mr. Happy Toilet (raising his hand to speak) held down the policeman while his older brother Duang (next to him) shot him in the head.

for sure? please provide a link to a reliable source that proves exactly that what you have said.

and what is the crime of the others and how many years in jail they exactly got?

I am not an educated professional, do not get 100,000 baht in my pensions, and have only lived here for three years. To some on this forum this probably means my opinion doesn't count but I will give it anyhow.

Opinion. If there was a direct election for President of Thailand (a non-existant position) and the choice was between Thaksin and any other Thai politician, 100 percent of eligible voters voted, there was no vote-buying, and the votes were counted honestly, Thaksin would have won any such theoretical election in the three years I have been here. Opinion.

It seems to me that the major argument from those who oppose Thaksin is that he is crooked, out for himself, and bad for Thailand. Thus if the voters vote for him it is because they are stupid and not as sophisticated as those who post on Thaivisa. Even if it is true that the voters are stupid, an assumption that is debatable to say the least, if you believe in democracy you must accept that sometimes your favored candidate will lose. Sending tanks into the streets to remove the winner and put your team in power is not democracy.

How can dear old Plus and Animatic keep on with their hoary old mantra of "They weren't elected - they bought their votes!"

I never said anything like that, at least in this thread. How am I supposed to reply to statements like that? It provokes nothing but emotionally charged exchanges on off topic subjects - the purpose of trolling.

As said, there's a separate thread for that discussion, but it doesn't cover private schools (presuming that with your high income and talk about increasing fees, that you don't send your son to a government school).

I didn't know 100,000 Baht a month is called "high income" :) You made me laugh so hard.

You know Koo82, i had you down as being many things but never arrogant. Seems i was wrong.

Do you laugh in the face of the millions of workers in Thailand who barely earn a tenth of your alleged income?

I don't think you are being fair at all.Koo clearly wasn't referring to Thai workers but the expatriates who pontificate (including yours truly) on this forum.

If it were another poster i would have drawn the same conclusion, ie that he/she were refering to expats and the average income of this group. But Koo82 is a poster who has on many occasions claimed that he/she is an average Thai woman. I don't see why an average Thai woman would find it funny to hear 100,00 baht a month being spoken of as a high salary - because amongst average Thai women that's exactly what 100,000 baht is.

Now Plus. did you not write "So a wife of a guy caught for buying votes wins an election" even though that statement was untrue? And you still say that you don't use the mantra "They weren't elected - they bought their votes!" ?

That, of course, is just this thread. If you care to go back over the pages and pages of rhetoric on TV, you will see a continuous reference to alleged vote buying.

P.S. Scooby do does seem to be quiet at the moment! :)

"a wife of a guy caught for buying votes wins an election"

Is nowhere near

"They weren't elected - they bought their votes!" ?

Your statement implies that I question legitimacy of her win and accuse her of vote buying, and you brought it up again after my first request for accuracy:

I'm simply pointing out the total inability of his detractors to accept the democratic will of the electors in Sakon Nakhon.

Can you point out exactly where people don't accept outcome of Sakhon Nakhon elections?

You must understand that supporters of coups, dictators, election overturning, insulting Thias by saying they are too stupid to vote.. unless they vote for Newin and PAD are allowed to run posts like this.

I am in agreement with you that this is at best a risky unproven allegation to be bandied about even on a web forum.

Expect more sour grapes as you are posting stories that are awkward for some on here. Corruption, nepotism and infighting after six months of squeaky clean Government ha ha, well knock me down with a ladyboy's false eyelashes.

Your exposure and humiliation of the great "sic" Plus was a nice piece of work. Even brought the gang back together in time for the fall of the house of Abhisit!

Never mind, if they hate democracy so much and Abhisit or PAD don't get elected by the Army next time, they can always find another country. Burma is the most accessible Militocracy! No chance of the plebs there voting for the wrong man eh!

Abhisit. Not only is the Honeymoon over, but the wife (Newin) appears to be making his way to the Divorce Courts for a 100% share of the spoils. He looked like he could manage the Eton Tuck Shop on a good day, but to keep this charade going for much longer is too much.

Army, PAD, EC, Constitution Court going to impose this lot on us again now it has turned to sh1t?

If you mean combined jail sentences deserved by offspring of Chalerm (and Thaksin) - it's not an "unproven allegation" but a common knowledge, as these people have been manipulating justice for decades now. The scumbags are universally hated in this country, red/yellow gap doesn't exist for them, and it's sickening to hear about "double standards" from their father.

I hope disagreements over PAD et al. hasn't forced some people to embrace Youbamroongs "righteousness" instead.

Outspoken Pheu Thai Party MP Leads By-election Campaign in Sisaket

A prominent Pheu Thai Party MP has spearheaded a campaign to drum up votes for his Party's candidate in the upcoming by-election for the first constituency of Sisaket province, while expressing confidence that his candidate will gain victory.

Pheu Thai MP Party Chalerm Yoobamrung, along with Pheu Thai Party candidate Surachart Charnpradit, met with residents in Sisaket province to drum up support in anticipation for the upcoming by-election this Sunday.

Pheu Thai Party supporters turned up to present flowers to the campaign team, shake hands, and take photos with them.

Chalerm said Pheu Thai Party bases its policy on the same blueprint that Thai Rak Thai Party used.

Chalerm said if he is in the position to do so, he will amend the law in order to bring Thaksin back, as he believes Thaksin will be able to fix the economy.

He criticised the Abhisit government for failing to address the economy and the security crises, adding that Pheu Thai Party will generate more income for the public and will restore their happiness.

There are two candidates in the first constituency of the Sisaket by-election. Pheu Thai Party is nominating Surachart Charnpradit as candidate no. 1, while Chart Thai Pattana Party is sending Sakulthip Aksakulkiet as candidate no. 2.

facts instead of emotion please. stick with facts.

that by-election happen because Mr Pongsak was accused by the EC of breaking the election law by making defamatory remarks about the Puea Pandin Party during his campaign..iconexternallink.jpg for that he got red-carded.

Sorry for the incorrect date. No, I just want to show that he means a better way for the Thai people. And that he has been put of power, by the wrong people. Legally he is still the Prime Minister of Thailand, not Abhisit he is not even chosen legally nor by it's own people of Thailand.

Actually Thaksin was only the caretaker Prime Minister,

because the election was annulled for voting booth irregularities.

There was no follow up election, so he was NOT RE-ELECTED a third time...

So he is 'NOT the deposed elected PM of Thailand',

because HE called a snap election and took himself out of full PM status in the process.

These are facts, not supposition.

He removed himself from the position of PM,

to quell dissent about the Temasek deal,

and it all went bad BEFORE he was re-elected.

Plus I believe that is aimed at me, trying to make me look like a caricature or cartoon.

Though in one post it could have been either of us.

Either way is is an attempt at denigration.

Of course the quoted text above would have been more properly stated as ' ****** '

since it was not actual quotes but an opionated summation of what they think.

In any case I rarely take too seriously the handmaidens of incomprehension and obtuseness.

What has photo of Chalerm sons with Thaksin and their deserved jail sentences got to do with Pongsak and Sakhon Nakhon?

>>

So he was busted for different kind of electoral fraud, not for vote buying - so what? It was one and a half year ago, Sakhon Nakhon elections were on Sunday, and nowhere did I say that his wife bought votes this time around or that her victory was illegitimate as Catmac alleged I did, several times.

If he meant Animatic, fine, but he explicitly used MY name.

that is a good question. what does that photo here anyway?

BLAH like your "jail sentences deserved by offspring of Chalerm (and Thaksin) - ...a common knowledge" comment, that you can't substantiate.

Their rap sheet goes back to the nineties, probably starting with falsifying conscription papers, and culminates in shooting a policeman in the head in a crowded pub.

It IS common knowledge in this country, I'm not going to argue just for the sake of it.

Asking to substantiate this is a red herring, a bait.

They are connected to this thread via Thaksin's phone calls and Chalerm being de-facto PTP leader and a spokesman.

Plus, you just don't see it, do you? Calling your opponent names is just not fraud! You show once again your fixation with accusing TRT/PPP/et al with fraud, i.e. vote buying, regardless of how many times you have the facts waved in front of your face!

I totaly agree with you Siriporn.

I also believe that any political party who embraced Mr. Sondhi, of the mystical conspiracy theories; Emerald Buddha incident and Robe Changing Ceremony and then manufactured a bizarre plot against those that cannot be mentioned; The Finland plot have lost any moral authority they have ever had.

Chuan Leekpai lost in moral authority he had when his brother was hiding in Taiwan and he was the PM, and that was before the Kader Fire. So where does that Leave Thaialnd?!

The election result in Sakon Nakhon was not simply a victory for Pheu Thai but for fugitive former Prime Minister Thaksin

I saw on tv Khun Anurak had a press conference thanking people for voting her and said the victory is the people's victory.

Calling your opponent names is just not fraud!

What he has done IS fraud, and it fell under election rules, not under criminal/livel laws.

"your fixation with accusing TRT/PPP/et al with fraud, i.e. vote buying"

And for the umpteenth time - on the second page of this thread I specifically stated that by-elections in Sakhon Nakhon are legitimate and are not questioned by me.

Why you keep accusing me of bringing in vote buying, again and again?

For the umpteenth time - I have NEVER said the current by-elections were won unfairly.

STOP putting your words in my mouth.

I think it's unfair to blame Chuan for the affairs of his brother, do you blame Margaret Thatcher for her wayward son? But Chalerm's support of his various sons' fight from justice, allegations of forgery and thuggish behaviour is well beyond the pale.

Chuan could be blamed for inaction as in the land scandal in Phuket years ago, but his level of honesty and decency is far above Chalerm's.
