Garmin Zumo

Featured Replies

Hi,

I own the Garmin Zumo 400 navigator which I use on my scooter. Photo at my previous post 'Mounting A Gps Device On A Scooter...'

Anybody know how to extract the co-ordinates from the Garmin favorites. My Software Version is: 4.70

Maybe it works with Google map to exchange navigation data between the Garmin device and my computer?

I have the following software in my computer installed, but don't know how to use them :D:

Garmin MapInstall,

Garmin MapManager,

Garmin POI Loader,

Garmin WebUpdater.

:)

If you have Map Source on your computer all you have to do is use the data transfer from the GPS to your computer. Transfer waypoints. Click on waypoints, click on the waypoint you want and the coordinates will be right there.

Different units have different functions, I have a Street Pilot 2610. To see the coordinates, all I have to do is use recently found or waypoints. Click on whatever location you want and the coordinates pop up.

I also have a Nuvi 750. That is a little more complicated. You have to go to tools, settings, system and turn on the GPS simulator. Then go to where to on the main menu. Go to recently found or waypoints, select the location and click on show map. Then select set location. Go back to the main menu and select tools. Select where am I and it will give you the coordinates. If there is an easier way, I don't know what it is. This may work on other Nuvi models that have the where am I function function but I'm not 100 percent sure.

To answer my own question. It is a little bit akward on the Garmin Zumo:

To find coordinates of a place:

1. Garmin must be in off mode.

Use Tool - System - GPS Mode - GPSoff

2. Click 'Where to?'

2. Select place in "Recently Found" or "Favorites"

3. Click "MAP". Check if cursor is in right place

in the map

4. Click 'SET LOC.'

5. Click "GO"

Garmin ask "Do you want simulate the route?"

4. Click "NO"

Garmin returns to the map. The vehicle is in 'Start' and 'End' position

5. Click on the vehicle

a window will open and display the coordinates (and elevation)!

Hope you get more answers here.
