Pregnant woman gunned down in Krabi

PHUKET CITY: -- Police in Krabi are investigating the murder of a heavily pregnant woman gunned down in her home on Saturday night. The crime

Inspector Santhi Kongsiri of the Khao Panom Police identified the deceased as 19-year-old Sunee Phukaoluan. Also killed in the attack was her unborn child, only one month from full term.

The killings follow a wave of violent crimes in Phuket, roughly 20km across lower Phang-nga Bay from Krabi

The victim’s mother said that she, Ms Sunnee, Ms Sunnee’s boyfriend and two relatives were watching television in their single-story home when a man appeared at the front door demanding to be let in.

Being nearest to the door, Ms Sunee went to open it.

Finding nobody there, she went outside to look around. She was turning to go back into the home when she was shot in the right side of the stomach. She made it back into the house but collapsed in front of the television.

Her family rushed her to Khao Phanom Hospital where she later died.

Police are investigating jealousy as a possible motive.

A former boyfriend may have hired a gunman to carry out the attack after the new boyfriend moved in to live with the victim, police said.

Two bullet casings were collected as evidence at the scene.

Agreed, to take the life of an unborn child is totally inexcusable and I can only hope that the guilty are caught quickly and punished to the max allowable of the law.

RIP

Reminds me of the heinous crimes committed in the ghetto areas back home. Never thought they could be committed here. Condolences to the family.

Were they able to save the baby? Not to try to classify or create technicalities in such a tragedy, but it's the difference between two murders or one, not to mention salvaging a life from death. My sentiments are with those of VenturaLaw. It's scary and unnerving to see this callous disregard for human life propagating through Thailand. I can't begin to fathom what the family must be going through.
