JR Texas
Is anyone else having major problems with the internet in Thailand? Has something happened like a cable breaking? I can't find any news of it on the net. Yesterday (27th) it was down most of the day.

You should mention your provider if you are based in LOS Also wrong TCP/IP settings can give the impression the entire Internet is down. Firewalls tend to block traffic too. Now if I can figure out what the heck is the smtp server SMTP (simple mail transfer protocol) that is the server which SEND emails to the world... and if you can't send out (assuming it has worked before) in most cases your ISP is the culprit - or the Hotmail smtp
apetley
Late yesterday afternoon and evening(26th) I could not get any international sites. Thai sites were fine. Then later that night I could get international sites again. Gotta love TT@T, never a dull moment!!!!

SICA
I am in Cha-am and live 4kms from a good friend. We both us the same internet service supplied by those fantastic people at TOT(does their customer service know no limits!) and can both have different problems in the same hour, let alone day or week. Just recently i have been experience problems being able to use Skyp and MSN but cannot access the net. A quick reboot of my machine and router seems to do the trick. Bloody annoying but works! I think there will always be problems until they have 100% fibre-optic cabling! looks like we're in for a lifetime of rebooting then!
jackdanielsesq
OK - Entirely without Prejudice. MS will dump regularly - I know this, so do y'all - its not a flame. Statement of fact. Live with it, lets move on. Ya have to reboot regularly. Because of its vulnerabilities and viral loads, it can and will go down frequently as various of its networking components either fail or become compromised. Especially if it is a recent problem whilst browsing or retrieve/send mail. Because of my schedules, I use everything plus the kitchen sync to get online. The local ISP gateway is normally the problem child. To that end I decided to eliminate all my SMTP accounts - it gets real old switching or remembering to, by installing a single Gmail account and using their IMAP/SMTP across the board. Its that simple. They have a lot of clout & horsepower - globally - except maybe China. BR>Jack BTW All the global email & ISP servers are all Linux based, for good reason. JR Texas
Today many Problem with international Internet! Maxnet PremMail can not be retrieved from servers outside Thailand. Same here..........very bad........can't connect to a site at a university in the USA...........hard to get email.........Google really a problem...........no torrent downloads at all..........what is going on? I did read, a while back, that the Thai govt. was about to initiate another censorship campaign........they said to stop pornography, but we all know what it is about: MORE CONTROL. I wonder if this is what is happening now.........people are trying to deal with their "system."
