Incidentally, my wife, who's Thai, loves the Kenneth McKellar version of Flower Of Scotland, and she knows all the words, which apparently a lot of Scots don't. :)

Sounds like some of our American friends managed to have a good celebration - only 364 days until next time. :D

Pretty ironic but I doubt that Obama has ever read the Declaration of Independence or even remotely believes in what it states. His actions over the first 5 months in office indicate the same, as he further ramps up the soft tyranny of big government started 75 years ago by FDR. The same could be said for the rest of the worthless scum who presume to call themselves national leaders yet continue to tax and spend the country into bankruptcy.

My family and I spent last year at the US Military compound in Saudi Arabia,

Yeah, it was Eskon Village. We had to park across the freeway and walk over the bridge to get past all the security. I had been there many times but my family had not. It was an experience for them. We were guests of the NavyDet Commander and his folks.

There are many comments on this forum and others about the young men and women of the US Military. I have been closely involved with them the past 20 years or so and many of them are remarkable people. They are smart, highly dedicated and fiercely patriotic, despite what Hollywood portrays them as. It has been my pleasure to break bread with them on many occasions and never once has one of them done anything out of the ordinary or out of line. They have respected my wife and children and at all times have shown the proper respect for me and my family.

They are willing to place their lives on the line for our freedoms and for that, they deserve my profound respect.

My two cents worth.
