Question about non-immigrant O. EXTENSION:

I have the Belgian Nationality.

My non-immigrant visum cat. O. good for multiple journeys (1 year visa) will expire on the 9th of July 2009.

I leave Bangkok for Belgium on the 6th of August 2009. I come back to Thailand the 20th of August 2009.

If I extend my visum for 90 days by crossing the boarder before the 9th of July, would this extension be valid when I re-enter Thailand on 20th of august until approximately the 7th of October? Or would it expire the moment I leave Thailand (on the 6th of august)?

For the moment I have my visum extended until 17th of august.

sincerely,

Doing a border run before 9th July will give you another 90 days. Taking you into October.

When you leave on 6th August your Permision to stay will expire unless you get a Re Entry Permit from Immigration. Cost 1,000 Baht. This would then keep your date in October alive. When you return on 20th August you will be stamped in until October.

Do not forget the Re Entry Permit.

The question is why would you pay 1,000 baht for this (unless you plan one year extension of stay). If you plan to remain here using multi entry, and not married, you should obtain a new multi entry visa when in Europe.

Are the authorities of the Jomtien Immigration office familiar with the re-entry permit?

As far as the Thai consulate of my city informed me, I am not eligible for a renewal of a non-immigrant visum cat. O. good for multiple journeys (under 50 year old,...). I am still unsure how I will organize my visa for the coming 12 months. thaivisa.com has been of good help, but I am still a little confused. An educational visum seems the most appropriate to my situation. If it's more economical to opt for a multi-entry tourist visa, I will choose the latter. I will read and calculate some more. Many thanks.

As mentioned many times by the mods, you could try the 'visiting a friend' O visa. If I remember rightly, honorary consulates have no problems with these. There's one in Germany as well as in Amsterdam, which isn't far from where you live.

Yes. Stuttgart , Amsterdam , and Hull UK will probably issue you a Multi Entry Non O Visa to visit friends.

If you do not have a Thai Spouse or over 50 that may be your best option.

Yes every Immigration Office will know about Re Entry Permits.
