Ah those loveable Brits, they always brighten up my day, :)

Yes Sorry Diaper. The pommie?(Prisoner of Her Majesty (slang Australian term for British citizens; also Pommie).

Just to tidy this up, the word is : POME, prisoner of mother England.

And to the poster who said all Farang look the same, definately not, you must be one of those people who look at Asian faces and say they are all the same.

Finally someone who actually knows what he's talking about (P.O.M.E.): thank you, Sir !

Pommie auctually is actually abbreviated rhyming slang, Immigrant = Pomegranate. Which then was shortened to Pom

Pomegranate, guess you really believe that. However it is incorrect, wish people would check their facts before spouting off.

lioness ( female )

How do we know they were Brits? Easy, who else would act like that? :)

From the Concise Oxford English Dictionary

Pommy

(also Pommie)

• noun (pl. Pommies) Austral./NZ informal, derogatory a British person.

— ORIGIN said by some to be short for pomegranate, as a near rhyme to immigrant

But I have heard three or four other derivations, including the P.O.M.E. reference on this thread.

Basically, you pays yer money and takes yer choice. There is no definitive derivation extant.
