Non-o Friends And Family Multi Entry Visa

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have a Thai daughter (3 months old), my current multi non-b runs out in Dec. I am not married to my daughters mother, (neither am i married to anyone else, nor is she :-)

I have a verifiable pension of £672 a month

What where and how are my best options for a multi non-o (friends and family)

I realise Hull would give me one with no problems, but am looking to not have to go back to the uk and try and get one a lot closer to Thailand.

Many thanks

In your case is the only option to go on NON-IM O for retirement. You must have a 800,000 Bt / year! Right now I don't know how much is 672 BP in Baht. If it is not enough then the rest you need on a bank book in Thailand!

Your pension is not enough for for an extension for Thai Child and nowhere near enough for Retirement assuming you are old enough.

Best bet is a Multi Entry Non O Visa. As you say Perth will be no problem . KL or Penang should be OK .Contact them and find out. You can also get a one off 60 days extension to visit your Child if you need a bit of time.

not realy related to my case but still have to ask one question, my non O runs out at the beginning of August and I guess I can get another 3 months leaving and enter again before that date.

My question is....I obtained my last non O in KL last year(multiple 1 year one ) would I be able to get

another one in KL or would it be better to go back to Perth?

Concerning the 60 days extension (?) to visit a child. This was just posted on another thread here

Poster is talking about a special provision to visit spouse or child and the time is 60 days. The current translation has dropped the (one time) that was previously used so would expect it can be used more often.

welo

Fred2007 You have a Thai Wife so you should be OK. The last report I saw said that they wanted to see 100,000 Baht in his bank account.
Thanks Lite Beer I just wondered because the last time I got my non o they did not even ask me for any money in the bank so I don't realy know how much I will have in my bank when the time comes

if it would be less would they just give me a few months?

  • 1 month later...
Please correct me ( visa experts ) if I am wrong but I guess the best places would be Perth,Brisbane,

or KL and maybe Penang

Went down to Penang (end of July 2009) to get another tourist visa. The gentleman (sorry no name tag, nice guy, around 40 years old) at the consulate meant, he could give me a non-o, if I could 'somehow prove', that I was "financially capable".

Had a compehensive bank statement (7 pages, accounts + sec. dep, computer generated, not signed, not 'authenticated' by ...) with me (all in German), provided a photo copy ===> worked!

Was also asked, whether I needed a document to to open an account with a Thai bank, I declined friendly (have some since years).

Maybe just good luck!?

Was that a single entry or a Multi?

"S", guess stands for "single".

When entering Thailand, I got a "stamp" <admitted 31. July 2009 until 28. Oct. 2009>. As I do understand, I have to somewhat "extend" that every three month at the immigration.

Am I right? If yes, indefinitely or .... ?

Anybody knows, has experience, can advise?

No. You have a 90 day stay. When that finishes you have to leave and get another Visa.

I was thinking an OA visa (non-mmigrant O) is valid for a year and has to be extended every 3 month?

So why all the hassle for that, if one has to leave every three month anyway? Tourist visa would be much easier, less paper work, etc., right?

You do not have an OA - you have an O visa. They are not the same thing - OA is only available to those over age 50 and only in there home country with a police check and medical required. As well as 800k in home bank or income of 65k.

The non immigrant provides a 90 day stay without extension required - but with free tourist visas a single entry is probably not good value. What people want is the multi entry valid for 90 day stay for a year from issue. But those are normally restricted to marriage/family reasons.

An O-A Visa gives a stay of 12 months and does not need you to leave Thailand within that time.

A Non Imm O Multi Visa gives you unlimited entries of up to 90 days each entry . Valid for a year and can be squeezed out to 15 months.

Lite Beer I just came back from another border run down to Penang and I got my extra 90 days

But now I deceided to go for a new Non O Multy again since financial situation have changed.

So if i apply for a new multy Non O (and I believe I will get it again) I will loose the extra 90 days and the new visa will start from the day of issue correct? Since my wedding certificate is in english I had it

translated and certified by the MFA last time, do I have to do this all over again or do they keep it on record? Documents I took last time

Wifes ID card, house book, our passports, wedding certificate, letter from my wife asking for a visa for me

and updated bank book. Anything else I need ? Last time I used KL and had no probs.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply.

What on earth is the the difference between "Non-Immigrant O" (in my PP, stands for what?) and "Non-Immigrant OA" ("Old Age" I guess). I guess, I mentioned, I am 51 and financial infos I provided to TH cons. in PEN (was accepted there!).

As we know, what TH immigration thinks about "residing in what country", that in many cases contradict the law of other countries. I am registerred with "my" embassy here in Thailand as a resident since more than 8 years.

A new Visa starts on the day it is issued and will invalidate any existing Visa you will have. Wait until your existing 90 days are almost used. Not sure about Penang but KL should be OK. Personally I would just do what you did last time.

O stands for "other reasons" and is used for long stay (retirement) - the "A" stands for pre approved for one year stay on entry. You are expected to extend your stay one year at a time at an immigration office inside Thailand so only a single entry is needed. The financials are required when you do that - that you provided to Consulate helps them feel good about issue of the visa but is not a requirement.

Thank you very much for the info. So before this "other reason"-visa expires, I am going to pay a visit to Suan Plu and have a look what they mean. Will I end up with a "just another other reason" visa? At least I made the guys in PEN "feel good"!

If you visit Bangkok Immigration (may have moved out of Suan Plu by then) with under 30 days remaining and a Thai bank account that has had 800k in it for two months and a letter from bank of current account balance, or 65k income letter from your Embassy or a combination to meet 800k per year; copies of your passport data page, visa page, entry stamp and departure card; 1,900 baht for TM.7 and a 4x6cm photo you should be able to obtain a one year extension of stay for retirement. Take a map to your residence with you in case asked.

Thank you very much for the infos. I dont like this 800k thing at all! Far too expensive, visa runs are a nuissance, but far chaeper. When the Baht dips to where the World Bank recently meant, it is supposed to settle (-50 to -80%, no joke) "within a year or two", then maybe.
