Hi , me and my g/f have been sorting out her visa application for a long while now but finally managed to get it in there today. I'd also like to complain about the British embassy in this post.

We got our friend to send a messenger to the Embassy to pick up an application form about 2 days ago, we had it all filled in ready to handover but as soon as my g/f walked into the application center she walked back out again and was told that the application form was the old one and had to fill in a new one in a rush as it was getting busy. Why are the embassy hading out old forms?Anyway make sure if your applying you get the new one.

Now about my possible mistake, as we rushed to do the new application outside the visa center I think I may have written something wrong to one of the questions. It says something like how much money will your sponsor give you? I answered on it 1000 pounds, but didn't provide any bank statment from my g/f's bank account. I wrote 1000 pounds because all in all I guessed thats approximetly how much the 3 week trip will cost, but as my mum is sponsoring my g/f we provided 6 months bank statements from my mother and 6 months from me. I'm just worried because she has written on her application form she will be given 1000 pounds maybe they will want it in her bank account? But my g/f doesn't have anything in her account and it's just going to be mine and my mums money supporting her, maybe she can clear this up at the interview if she gets one? Thanks for any response.

When you say you sent a messenger to the embassy I presume you mean to the VFS in which case they certainly should give out the most recent form which has been in use since November 2008. The form is actually available online which is certainly a lot easier than sending a messenger and of course it can be submitted online, though that info is probably too late now.

I wouldn't worry about the £1000 too much, whoever is the sponsor will have to prove the amount available to the applicant is in fact available and affordable and not simply transferred into her bank account, in fact such an action might arouse suspicion. The actual cash is only one part of the equation, if she is staying with you she wouldn't as much as if she was staying in hotels. As long as the sponsor, be it you or your mother, has been able to convince the ECO in your covering letter that you can afford to sponsor and it given your background together it is reasonable to do so, then that part should be ok. The reason to return is always the biggest hurdle.
