Hello I have a 30 day, visa on arrival, and there are some conflicting reports about paying 1900 baht to extend it for 7 days. Has anyone done this recently? Was there any problems? Are they still offering this extension for my type of visa?

(It's a visa exempt entry what you got, not a visa on arrival. That is something else).

You can extend it by 7 days for 1,900 bath and a photo, but most times immigration wants to see a ticket out of the country within those 7 days.

Alternatively you can just cross the brder into a eighbouring country and return and get a permission to stay for another 15 days.

Hi in regard to extending your 30day visa by 7 days. Will you have a problem with your airline refusing as you will stay 5 weeks but only alowed 30 days. i mean on your departure from uk

The poster is here according to his post. But yes there could always be a problem with no visa or onward travel within 30 days.

Yes, I have lived here for 4 years, but I have always extended my two month tourist visa for an extra 30 days. I had not extended the 30 day visa-on-arrival before. Well it turns out I don't need the extension as I will be flying out on-time this time, but good to know for next time.

So if you have a problem at airline check in refusing travel what is the point of an extension of 7 days when you are there in thailand

The problem would be at the point of origin. That is why I pointed out the poster was already here. He is not going to have a problem leaving Thailand. If you plan/tickets for more than a 30 day stay you should obtain a visa prior to travel or airline could refuse to let you board.

Okay i understand what you are saying. My point was if someone want to come for 5 weeks he has a 30 day visa and want to pay for another 7 days instead of applying for a 2 month tourist visa why should the airline refuse him to travel

Because the requirement is that he onward transportation to obtain a 30 day visa exempt stamp. The airline goes by that rule. If immigration decided to use that rule and refuse him entry the airline would have to pay a fine from letter him travel without meeting the requirements and transport him to a country willing to accept him.

First this approach carries a big chance of being denied boarding, as the requirement for obtaining a vista exempt stamp is proof of onward travel out of Thailand within 30 days. The airline would be well within their rigths to refuse boarding, expensive experiment.

Furthermore getting a tourist visa is cheaper normally 1900 baht against 1000 baht, a little bit more in western countries, at the moment it's a non brainer in any case, as they are issued free of charge.

And no worries about being denied boarding, an easy choice if you ask me.

I dont agree with u what u say about the airline well within there rights to refuse boarding, what u do within those 30 days can take u out of thailand at anytime so I cant c any airline ever refusing u to board. visa extensions are availabe in country, but as has already been pointed out specific visa runs are done all over. just a matter of speaking to travel agents/ tour guides hotel staff.

Airlines can and do refuse entry to the flight if passengers do not meet Visa requirements.

They are responsible for flying you back if you are refused entry and are also fined.

Hi, you shouldnt have any problems if you travel with AIRASIA, they dont ask any questions and dont want to see any onward or return tickets, best airline i ever travelled with.Any other airline and they want to know everything.

Tell them you have an e-ticket to fly somewhere else (with a different airline)

Yes they can refuse you boarding but if you have a ticket say for arrival and departure within 30 days and you decide to get an extension of your 30 day stay upon arrival the airline would not know that when you boarded so could not refuse you. You will pay for change of ticket.
