hello,

need help regarding my non-immigrant b visa. im working for a big company but going to loose my job soon because of the economical situation.

I'm holding a non-immigrant b visa(for 1 year, dont have to leave the country, just have to report every 3 months..), valid till may 2010, next 90 days report at immigration, sept. 2009.

so, my company told me now that my workpermit and visa will expire on 12th of august 2009. (as i stop working in the next few days..)

I understand that the workpermit will be canceled of course but do the companies cancel the visas usually as well?

Or do u think, I just can "use" my visa till may 2010?

what kind of papers/documents they asking for at the 90 days report at the immigration? Or do I just have to show up?(before our secretary was doing this for the staff..}

thank you very much!

You apparently have a non immigrant visa (90 days on entry in Thailand), on which you subsequently got a 1 year extension based on your employment/WP.

When your employment ends, so does the 1 year extension. On the very same day.

There are a few possible scenario's.

If you entered Thailand on a single entry non immigrant visa, you either leave Thailand on the same day your employment ends, or get a 7 day extension for 1900 Baht.

But if you happen to be married to a Thai national you can get a 90 day extension based on that.

If you entered on a multiple entry non immigrant visa AND it is still valid, you can leave Thailand on the day your employment ends and come straight back in (border run). You will then receive 90 days. And you will still have non immigrant status allowing you to get a new WP if you find another job.

If you have to leave Thailand as per the first scenario, it will be unlikely you will get a non immigrant visa in one of the Asian embassies/consulates. For this you would first need to find a new job and apply for a new work permit. Once the application is in and you have the WP3 form, along with the proper company papers you can then get a non immigrant visa in for example the Laos/Vientieanne Thai embassy.

The extension based on mariage to a Thai national is 60 days. But if he can show an income of 40,000 baht a month or 400,000 in a Thai bank for 2 or 3 months he could even get an extension of stay for 1 year.
