I would like to drive to Laos, would it be possible to take my car across the boarder and if so, what would I need to prepare for it?

Thanks

Thanks hi call at the lao embassy in bangkok 0253966678 and good luck

hey, thank you very much. I never thought of that :) I will call now and see what they say.

there is a massive thread on this in the motor forum.

took my car over about a year and half ago. Very easy to do, so long as you own the car outright. You need a car passport as well, available from the department of land transport.

Once I have to go to Laos by car, I drive until Nong-Kaai and parking the car there near border then take the bus to Laos (Wiang Jan), for me was easier and pay not much for parking and the bus and also do not to prepare all papers to bring the car across the country and more cost, but it right to contact Laos embassy or some office for visa service they can give you information what you have to do if you really want to go with the car until Laos.

ok, cool. thanks very much.

And don't forget that they drive on the 'wrong' side of the road over there so if you have problems with that, maybe better to take a bike!
