If you can put 260,000 into a bank account and have Embassy letter of your 45k per month pension you can extend your stay on a yearly basis at an Immigration office. Total cost is 1,900 baht for application plus bank and embassy letters.

Are you certain they did not remove the "combination" bank deposit and income option? I thought it was one or the other.

The problem is multi tourist visa (not non immigrant) and is only at Penang (and perhaps on the other side of Malaysia at KB).

I have moved this question and replies out of the penang tourist visa thread, as the poster might be better served with a topic of his own.

If you are married to a Thai national, or have children with Thai nationality living in Thailand, different rules apply.

You could then get a Non-O visa and 1 year extensions of stay if you live with your wife and have an income of 40,000 baht a month OR 400,000 in a Thai bankaccount for 2 or 3 months.

What about learning Thai and getting ED visa? it is not expensive and no more visa problems neither visa runs. 68 is a not too old to be a student.

Without the marriage or the school you should not have any problem getting a multi entry non immigrant O visa from Perth or Brisbane (you do not have to live there). You might even get closer with your age being a factor. Why not check with KL and see if they will provide. If not a trip to Oz every 15 months might be a good option.

The cost of a study Thai would be around 29,000 baht a year. For more information click on the banners of 2 scoools you see on top of the page. you can find more information about the process there.

It would require you to study 4 hours a week on avagrage and to extend your permission to stay every 90 days.
