Chiang Mai Lawyer ?

Featured Replies

Hello i am a new member,i would like to ask does anyone know a good lawyer in chiang mai, that can do a prenuptial that can also be reconised in england,i am awhere that english law is differant, but i was wondering whether i can get a thai and english prenuptial using one lawyer, regards john

You probably can get what you want, from a single Thai lawyer but I would doubt its acceptance in courts of England. If memory serves correctly, The Amphur, asks when you register marriage if you want to summit a pre marriage property list. The his, hers lists are filed along with marriage papers, and those listed assets are not subject to division if/when divorce would take place, no lawyer involved. Its been almost a score of years since I experienced this so things may/probably have changed.

Beware of Thailands (Chiang Mai's) Perry Mason

He will charge you the same as one done in the UK

I suggest that you have two done. Get one done here, have it translated into english, and have a pommie lawyer stamp it.

I would certainly check with a UK lawyer. As far as I know English courts do not recognise prenuptial agreements so they are not enforceable there.
